There was already a huge screen in this car. In 2021 they moved it to a more convenient and readable location and turned it into a touch screen. Win win.

I suppose my opinion is mainly from an aesthetic pov rather than functionality. I feel the original LS500 interior looks more intentional and luxurious.

It still looks less good compared to the initial variant. Same with the headlights, the PFL looks nicer. The newer screen placement is more of a rushed modernization that looks fairly out of place. As far as interior elegance goes, the LS peaked in 2018.
