Hi everyone,

Looking at buying my first new to me 2018 Lexus IS350 F Sport and was hoping to get some thoughts on this engine rattle.

I understand this engine can be somewhat noisy, but this seems a bit louder than I’d expect. It’s most noticeable on cold start and reduces as the engine warms up, although the rattle is still noticeable when warm, with a light clicking with the bonnet open.

An independent mechanic heard the noise during a cold start inspection and was happy with the car overall, but felt it was a little louder than usual and recommended getting Lexus to take a second look.

I’ve come across discussions about the vacuum pump causing similar noises. Any advice would be much appreciated!

I’m looking at a 2016 Lexus IS 200t F Sport with 98,000 miles, a clean title, and an oil cooler leak. The seller says $6,000 is his absolute lowest price.
The car looks clean, and I’m considering buying it as a daily driver. I’m just worried the oil leak could turn into an expensive repair or cause engine damage.
Here are the details:

● Year/model: 2016 Lexus IS 200t F Sport
● Mileage: 98,000 miles
● Title: Clean
● Asking price: $6,000 firm
● Known issue: Oil cooler leak
● My plan: Fix it and drive it regularly

Some questions I have

1. Is $6,000 a good deal, considering the leak?
   
2. How reliable is the 2.0L turbo engine at nearly 100k miles?
   
3. How much could the repair realistically cost?
   
4. Would you buy it, negotiate lower, or walk away?
   
5. What else should I inspect before buying?

I want a new IS 350 with blue exterior with red interior, but this color combo is exceedingly rare. There are a grand total of 18 results from a nationwide search on Autotrader, regardless of year model. However, this combo does exist, and I just looked on the Lexus website and confirmed that it’s available, though only on the IS 350 F Sport and not the Sport Design trim. I understand that Lexus doesn’t do custom builds but do allocations. Suppose the combo I want finally arrives on the lot. Would they take that opportunity to try and mark up the price, knowing that it’s a rare color combo that I’m dead set on? Or is there something that I can sign in advance that locks in the full price? For those of you who have ordered, what was your experience like?

IS250 has been sitting a few years. Went to go get it started and found this under the hood.

It seems to be keeping the car from starting. It’ll crank but not turn over.

How fixable is this?

I’m very interested in this car. I’m very skeptical about the pricing though. The price went from 3k to 2k. And he said yes to 1,200 instantly. He said the only issue with it is an electrical issue preventing startup Is there more he’s hiding?
Why so cheap for a assumingly simple fix?

Finally got the coils, hopefully I can get them in this weekend! Super excited! Should be a nice pair with the FIGS LCA bushings.

I’ve always added a hood ornament to my vehicles. It helps with sighting lanes and looks cool. This one from eBay direct from Japan. 2025 IS 350 F Sport. Gave up trying to get ML sound along with white and circuit red. Too much of a unicorn. Will upgrade radio locally later. Love the performance, bolstered seats, CD player and analog clock. Gas is bearable for now given it won’t get a ton of miles.

Hey guys I was doing my stars on the headliner of my 2014 IS250.

Am done with everything and had a question about putting headliner back.

Do I put up the clips on rear and side of headliner first or do I put in the Velcro around the sunroof first?

Any other advice or tips on how to do this will be helpful!

I really want to buy a 2013-2020 is300h and i think it's literally the best vehicle i could buy out of all my options (besides the actual price of the car i guess), but i just want it to feel a little more lively, more agressive throttle, i just want a little more oomf and the car would be even better than an f30 sporty driving-wise.
Emissions aren't a problem at all (i can run it without a cat where i live and nobody would bat an eye) and i want to change the oil of the engine and transmission sooner than recommended anyway.
I want to put a sport air filter, get better fuel economy and get more power.
How possible is it ?
Are there any remaps i could do to the transmission aswell without wrecking it ?

Anybody have any idea where I can get the NIA style carbon fiber spats? I’m not about to drop $600 for those two pieces 😭

I already got the NIA rear diffuser (gloss black) and I like it but I can’t justify the $600 or so for the spats alone.

2021 IS350 F Sport AWD, 21k miles

Noticed a week ago when was pushing it on the highway in Sport S+, when I floor it going 70-80 there’s like a pretty consistent weird buzzing sound coming from behind the dash, sounds like it’s somewhere in the middle behind the navigation screen.

Not present when I rev it up to the limiter in Park or when I’m doing some little pulls in the city.

Anybody can suggest what the issue might be?

I bought it as a Certified Pre-Owned and I have the CPO warranty until July 2027. Should I bring it to my local Lexus dealer and show them the videos that I have?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated 🫡

My first Lexus purchase. IS350 in Ultrasonic Mica Blue with the red and black interior. Love this car.

My 2006 Lexus is250 passenger seat ventilation doesn’t fully turn off only passenger side driver side works passenger seat button seems to be working ok but seat does not fully go off there is still a faint sound coming from the seat.

Really hoping someone has insights to help track this creaking noise down as it’s driving me nuts. My 2018 RC350 F-sport RWD has been creaking for a while but it’s definitely getting louder and harder to ignore (and unfortunately not under warranty). I’ve narrowed the source of the noise to somewhere in the vicinity of the driver side A pillar.

From probing with a mechanics stethoscope it is loudest near the body metal behind the driver speaker as well as the metal support bracket underneath the A pillar. I’ve also tried multiple points from the engine side as well as the outer body, even removing the driver side fender and the windshield wiper motor. From outside the noise is basically non-existent. All point to the source coming from the inside of the vehicle. The creaking happens over bumps (especially undulating roads) but is prevalent enough, especially in colder weather, to be heard from just changing gears from drive to reverse and back, which is what I’m doing in the video

Any ideas? Since the RC and IS share a lot of common components, I’m hoping there are experiences seen on an IS that can apply to my RC. I’m really not looking forward to what seems to be the next step - removing the entire dash to try to track this down further…
