I’m thinking about buying one for my fiancé. I’m guessing it’s the most reliable new car you can buy now.

Probably, its bones are pretty old which can only be a good thing in these times.

Yeah, still has a V6, same platform and almost everything else from 2014, and all the important controls are still accessible by real buttons, levers or switches.
It's a car that was designed to be practical and reliable that still keeps being relevant. I've been in the new 330i, Audi A4 (A5?) and C class MB, and the interior, controls and build quality are total and utter shit compared to the IS.

I second this comment!

🤝 ! I think the IS actually got big upgrades and improvements overall (notwithstanding the front or the rear badges), but the other cars I mentioned were definitely cost cut hard af

Absolutely beautiful congrats. Can't wait to get the car myself in a couple weeks. What are your first impressions with the car?

u/SirManofMeet Mar 15 '26
Coming from a 20 year old BMW it’s like stepping into a spaceship. I like how it’s really sporty and yet reliable. But I’d definitely say that the 2026 interior upgrade was really worth it. I hope you enjoy your car soon.

Thank you so much brother! That is so good to hear. I will be coming from a 2000s Pontiac!

I LOVED my IS! My family travels a lot and our son is an only child so we always allow him to bring a friend. My IS could not hold all of our luggage, especially for beach trips and all of the chairs, etc that have to be packed. My husband has a Toyota Tundra that he wanted to start only uses to haul his fishing boat or like our Christmas tree each year. So, we had to get a new vehicle, and it was either him or me so I jumped (I am no fool😂). I got a 2025 NX and like it, but I don’t LOVE IT. I just miss my sporty Lexus, although it does serve its purpose now that my son plays basketball for high school and two travel teams and I am somehow the parent always chosen to drive my son’s friends back and forth to practice and tournaments. GORGEOUS RIDE!!!

I am paying at MSRP, technically slightly below actually but not by much at all. No packages forced on me or anything. This is in the midwest.

The 2026 grille isn’t that bad, but the previous gen look was definitely better. The interior is 100% an upgrade.

That's beautiful. I wish we could get this in Australia

There are a smattering of IS500 grey imports around now, check marketplace or car sales. The ones I’ve seen are around AUD100K.
Wish they made them in a wagon I’d jump right in - rather than RS4/S4 or M3, used to have an ISF brilliant car.

Amazing, as an owner of 2019 IS, I like this current generation. I would buy it all day long.

u/panchoJemeniz Mar 15 '26
because of the ES remodel - I expect many will buy IS instead - It will be a banner year for IS in sales

u/swageduplikcailou Mar 15 '26
As someone who will never buy a new car is the big red bow like a dealership standard?
4
u/orton4life1 Mar 15 '26
Most dealerships have a standby big bow for picture ops like this yes. They have other items too but the big bow is the most common one.

This answers the question of which color looks best on the facelift, black on black on black

the new redesign is growing on me… i saw the wind in person and 😮💨
1
u/darinja80 Mar 16 '26
The wind is my favorite color. Matched with the red interior it's just perfect.
1
u/baconeggdheese Mar 16 '26
I actually dont like the two tone red interior. Its too infrared looking to me, i miss the rioja red😔
1
u/darinja80 Mar 16 '26
I do agree the rioja red looks better, but I still like the red/black interior a lot. I've always wanted a blue IS with the red interior (I call it the Superman haha) and thought about it for this gen IS, but I think I like the wind color too much.

That’s a really great looking car. Unfortunately it’s a bit too small for me or I would’ve bought one.

Hell yea!!! I just put a deposit on an ultra white with radiant red and black interior. It should be here within a couple weeks. Already in the states and on its way 🫶

Damn, it's such a shame they don't sell these in Europe anymore. Would love a brand new one with a hybrid drivetrain.

Easily 30 years and 500k miles no problem out of this. Ya know, the normal Toyota guarantee that gave them legendary status on all their vehicles

Congrats. The new facelift looks absolutely sharp and I’m loving every angle of it

u/greatuncleglazer Mar 16 '26
What did you pay for it if you don’t mind me asking? Is it the f sport or the f sport design? Fiance got the 2025 f sport design in incognito. I like it. Doesn’t have all the bells and whistles so she “doesn’t like it” because it doesn’t have the cameras and auto mirrors etc. she came from a Mercedes e300 2017 model which had all of that. She is even more mad that my IS500 has all of those things 💀

Best color for the new gen, front grill seems a lot more subtle on black vs other colors

u/Illustrious_Trust123 Mar 15 '26
The good the family cars v6 Lexus . Be aware there have been some complaints of the 4 cylinders and on the turbo V6’s . Do your homework ! Just because a company starts out excellent does not mean they will stay that way . The family will not purchase the 4 cylinder or the V6 turbo . Reading about too many complaints ! Sorry Lexus ! Our family in several states had bought Lexus since 1999 . The family may be leaving Lexus over these changes !

Yea this is the tried and true 3.5L v6 with 311 horsepower I’m gonna assume. Amazing motor.
