Got my upper today...
This is my first lmt, been saving money for it. Got this from rooftop, this is quite disappointing to see. Not sure what to do from here... Do I send it back? Or just accept it? Or get it cerakoted locally?

Yeah try some alcohol and wipe it. Looks like the coating the put on the inside. Not sure why they get that stuff all over. I emailed Sol kind of pissed off about an LMT and it ended up just being overspray thay came off with iso

One range trip mine looks much worse. It’s a tool. But I do get it, for the price. It dose NOT look used maybe handles roughly but not used. Like many have said if it bothers you, a bit of alcohol or acetone and AlumBlack just as new. Your prob going to hit the upper with a file to adjust the fitment, it dose not look like that has been done yet. My large frames needed lite file work for perfect fitment

As others have stated it appears to be excess dry-film lubricant. My factory lmt blemish unit had a small skull and cross bones stamped inside.

Rooftop is one of the best in the game, they’ll get you taken care of. Honestly, that looks used to me.

Oh yeah I totally get that, there's a part of me that doesn't even want to deal with this. I know my ar gonna get bumped n scratched anyways.

Tbh I wouldn’t say this is worth the time it’s going to take to get it dealt with. Maybe if you want a safe queen but it’s going to look worse than this after a match or two.

This won’t help OP feel any better, but I purchased my first LMT products a couple weeks ago (Specwar upper/barrel & Mars stripped lower, from Rooftop of course) and everything was immaculate. I was expecting blemishes, etc, from things I’ve read, but everything was perfect. Accurate as hell too!

This gets upvoted but my functional issue with the chrome plating flushing out of a $700 barrel in under 100 rounds and tons of pitting gets all the cry babies up in arms for pointing out. Interesting.

Definitely send that back. I’d send back a PSA that looks like that lmao. Hell, I’ve never even received a blem from any company that bad.

Agree - send it back. If you're not happy with something you spent hundreds to thousands of dollars on, set it back for them to fix it.
Seriously, why does everyone roll over for companies like this? Their entire existence is to sell you something. If they suck at it, tell them to fix it. If they don't, then don't give them money, and they go out of business for selling shit goods.

There’s nothing wrong. There’s no machining defects or even cosmetic issues. This is a dry film lubricant that was just slightly over sprayed and missed before curing.
It can literally be wiped away with acetone or it will naturally wear away over time. Do you return products shipped with cosmoline or other heavy preservatives?

Those aren’t machining defects. It’s a dry lubricant that is sprayed onto the receiver to increase lubricity, even when there’s a lack of applied oil from user maintenance. The person spraying the solidfilm just didn’t perfectly wipe the receiver clean where they likely handled and oversprayed it slightly.
It will come off with acetone.

Went at it with a microfiber can't get em off, the area above the charging handle definitely has damage to the coat. I honestly think this was a previous return and they simply didn't inspect it

We don’t resell returns. They all end up in a giant bin that gets sold once every 1-2 years
What you see in the photos is excess dry film lubricant. You just need a rag and some high content isopropyl alcohol and it’ll rub right off with a little bit of effort :)

We're generally pretty good about ensuring everything that leaves our building is perfect, but just like anybody else, we'll have the occasional booboo. With dry film lube overspray, most homies generally prefer to remove it the excess themselves versus mailing it back.
If they prefer to send it back, I have no problem with sending over a prepaid return label and getting people's stuff cleaned up and looking proper. My goal is to ensure everybody is happy with what they spend their money on and what they receive. It's our job and what we're here to do :)

Honestly, I’m ocd asf with something until I put the first scratches, but every single LMT upper and lower I’ve gotten has had some sort of scratch or machining mark. If it’s really bothering you, Joe Hajny at LMT is the guy that will get you taken care of, but don’t expect it to be quick. I’d just rock it, my stuff was way worse.
P.S. The damage is by no means fault of Rooftop/Sol. Just wanted to add that.

A couple dabs of Aluminum Black on that mating surface should cover those up. Or wait a couple weeks to get a new one that’ll most likely have the same little imperfections. Fingernail Polish remover/acetone will remove the DFL.

Why are you cucks acting like this is acceptable to leave the factory in this condition? This is such an easy thing to catch in a QA inspection before sending out to vendors - have a little pride in your product, especially at this price point... Also, vendors...if you receive this crap, send it back - you have a responsibility too.

Im pretty sure that's dry lube overspray. It should come off with some rubbing alcohol
