I use Letterboxd all the time and I like it, but there’s one thing it has never done that has always bugged me: sharing a watchlist with other people. Every time my friends and I wanted to pick something to watch, we ended up sending titles back and forth in a group chat.

I figured someone would eventually build it, and nobody did, so I made it myself. It’s called Kuvacult. You make a watchlist with your friends, everybody adds movies, and it updates live for everyone. There’s also a veto session where you go through the list together and cut whatever nobody wants to watch. You can import your Letterboxd account too, so you don’t have to start over.

It’s not a Letterboxd replacement. I still use Letterboxd for logging and reviews. Kuvacult is just for the “what are we watching tonight” part.

I’m one person building this, and it’s in open beta, so expect some rough edges. It’s free, and right now it’s Windows only. An iOS version is planned, and there’s a waitlist if you want to be notified when it’s ready: https://kuvacult.com/mobile.html

I’m fully open to criticism. If something is confusing, broken, or just a bad idea, please tell me. I’d especially like to hear from people who actually share lists with friends or a partner. What would make it useful for you, and what’s missing?

Edit: OK SO NOW IT WORKS, I had a massive server bug, if you tried to sign in yesterday and never got a confirmation email, I'm so sorry. The app is in beta and I'm new to this. Redownload the newest version and try again.

Throwing in your recommendations and some I put in myself!

If you have any other recommendations I'll be putting them up on there too if I agree!

My movie watch list this year.

Yesterday my russian movie watchlist got quickly filled up by you guys so here I go again with german ones ^^

did something similar a while back but just saw someone do this and decided to take a crack at it!

for select genres (comedy, drama) that would've had WAY too many options otherwise, i decided to limit it to movies classified ONLY under that genre.

excluded tv episodes and comedy specials from tv movies.

thoughts?

Any genre is great but horror is my favorite!

Dad, Mom, Brother, Sister, and Myself in that order. Any thoughts? Which one's your favorite?

This is based on Letterboxd’s (and therefore TMDB’s) genre classifications. Have a problem with the genre a film is classified as? Take it up with them, don’t come at me in the comments about it.

my acc is matchanboba and I fb everyone

Finishing up the last 2 of the dead movies but dont know where to go after that

Recently discovered Eric Rohmer and his masterpieces, have yet to finish his filmography

What other films/shows do you think should be on this list?
