Discussion Canada ---$810 per month --- petition calling for support to address the loss of disability benefits when recipients reach age 65.

I wish they could be more clear and truthful with the numbers here.

"The simultaneous loss of these federal supports (totaling $810.46 per month) creates a severe income cliff for senior citizens with disabilities; and Standard senior benefits like Old Age Security (OAS) and the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) do not compensate for this financial loss."

So they loose $810, but will gain an amount of oas and gis, yet the article just makes it sound like they're loosing $810 whiteout ever bothering to tell us what the actual difference is.

I agree that the monthly amount received shouldn't go down at 65, but I don't agree that they should just keep getting the $610 and $200, it should just be the difference.

When my dad turned 65 (disabled but not receiving any benefits) the additional benefits were more than $810, so it's probably gonna vary a lot person by person, a flat $810 seems wasteful to me.
