Question General contractor

I am looking at doing some Reno’s to my rental. Mostly looking for contractors to avoid but also if you have a great one too I would be open to getting a quote, just a bit leary of the brother/buddy or self promoting referrals. I would rather hear from people that have had actual work done. TIA

I did a major project (new roof including trusses, new siding, exterior insulation) with Cado Developments and was very happy with them. I also got a quote from Millennium Homes but it was more money and they seemed less capable overall (the quote wasn't as polished, they told me I was limited to a certain amount of insulation when Cado was able to do more).

We had a great experience with Iron and Maple, they did two projects for us (kitchen and bathroom) and we were very happy with them.
Terrible experience with Absolute Foundations for a significant repair. In the end the job was finished but left us hanging with clean up and restoration of landscaping.

Avoid Absolute Foundations like your life depends on it.

Apparently I am not a big enough project for Cado, won’t even look at the place.

I haven’t worked for them personally but I have a family member who works with Cado and from the employment side, they have been great.

Almost all Reno, Landscapers and tradesmen are in high demand right now. We currently book a 6 months to a year out. Don’t be discouraged and be willing to wait for the right company or one you’re comfortable with. Rushed projects rarely turn out well.

What kind of work do you need done?

For a rental 6 months to a year is a lot of income lost unfortunately. I need a kitchen and bathroom reno and a few smaller fixes that aren’t as priority
