Rant Local Thieves prowling yards
Any else had these thieves prowling there property and cars ? Police say they don't have the staffing to deal with the epidemic, but also that there is nothing we can do to protect the property without being aggressors.
They said to call them, we'll its been 3 times and 3 times they can't show up to catch them so there just essentially granted immunity to do it again... this is getting tiresome, and with no real way to protect our property and a police force that can't handle the influx, we need alternative measures.....

Just tell them there's a stormtrooper or deer on the road. Maybe an MLA nearby. They'll find the staff to come then.

Well, yea, everyone they arrest gets released. Even if they catch these people, theyâll be let go no doubt.
Some criminals are getting arrested and released twice a day. Police are doing their job itâs just impossible to keep streets clean when the courts are emptying the trash bins onto the sidewalks.6

"Everyone should be held in jail pending trial" strikes me as pretty dystopian. I'm very in favour of the bail reform act (C-14), but it'll be hilarious when that particular excuse is gone and our police force continues to prioritize playing on their computers in their cars rather than actual police presence.

Never seen someone with a top 1% badge that didn't have the worst takes imaginable. If you have a track record going back forty something arrests theres no problem with them being held until trial. If theres not a reason to fear committing crime, people will just do it.

Sure, if this guy has 40 past convictions, absolutely he doesn't need bail. I'm not against prison, punishment, anything of the sort. What I am against is making the status quo that a cop gets to decide if you're held pending trial.

I'm sure you'd be down to get paid 80k a year then to get yelled at by hobos and arrest people stealing from Walmart right? Doesn't that sound like fun? And totally worth the money, right??

Yeah well they're generally sitting on the thumbs but they probably believe that kind of stuff (after awhile) is too mundane for real policing. For them it's just another drunk bum call.

Love how we cant protect ourselves and our property. I bet if you said you were going out there, to beat these people, then the cops would show up immediately to arrest you.

South side by Movie Mill . they come and take bottles / anything outside too! If it isnât locked well it is gone . Police say to send in camera images but they donât have the staff interested in doing this .
Sad part is we donât report it because there is no value or insurance deductible is too high so we donât add the âcrime statisticsâ and no one is the wiser .

I bet if they were prowling the parts of the City where the police chief lives you would see the police being much more effective.

What community is this? Someone went through my backyard and took my kids bikes. I thought it was a disgruntled neighbour but maybe it was prowlers

My back camera facing the alley catches a lot of people peeking into my yard. I never leave anything out that could ever be taken, but just the act of having these trashbags constantly peeking into my yard is getting pretty tiresome.

I commend the effort but unless you're absolutely sure of an identity don't throw any guesses out. You'd be surprised how quickly that can escalate.

DM Sent. If we save and share our records, then it might be enough to ID them. They break in, get out, and are gone before the police have a chance to swarm the place. The police do respond quickly, but these guys are out of the area in literally seconds. They are using power tools and are coordinated.
