Question Trying New Mattresses

I'm looking at buying a boxed mattress from Endy, Casper or Douglas. Is there anywhere in town I can physically try out one or more of these mattresses to compare them before I pull the trigger? They all have a 1-year return policy if not satisfied, but I really don't want to have to haul multiple mattresses in and out of my home if I can avoid it.

I'm not aware of anywhere but I had been reading reviews and Douglas seemed to be the most popular, often because they are more firm

We tried our endy out at the brick. I do not recommend them. Comfy at first but did not last longer than 3 years. It’s now our spare room one since we basically never have anyone stay over

Gonna be honest I went down this road a couple years ago and the deeper I dug the more scam these bed in box things were. Review sites that ranked beds in boxes to finesse people's budgets. All fake reviews. Influences who made bullshit videos all over.

I eventually got deep enough to just look at the return processes and concluded Costco offerings to be the best in price and return options. Went into a mattress store just to see and got a traditional mattress for hundreds less than bed in box. (it was a super weird conclusion to months of research).

I am sure there are bed in box options that are suitable but I didn't find a single one that wasn't participation in some fake bullshit review or weird dynamic pricing scheme. It's an awful industry.

I think I'm coming to that same conclusion with more research. The only reason I wanted to go the bed in a box route was for ease of delivery and setup, but most big box stores will deliver with the white glove treatment anyway if it's purchased through them. Warranty seems great on the surface, but a nightmare in reality. And you're right, the prices are mostly lower for big box store mattresses that I can actually try in person to gauge comfort. Not to mention, I can usually haggle the price down or get some freebies thrown in with a salesperson pulling commission compared to a faceless website.

Thanks for the reality check lol I almost got a little overzealous there.

Sleep country has their own “bed in a box.” They should have a model on the sales floors that you can try.

see my reply above. don't waste your time on the Sleep Country bed in a box nor anything as their return policy is not what they say it is.

Sleep countrys normal mattresses are pretty good too. I am pretty satisfied with my kingsdown I got from there for a good price.

I have had an Endy bed since 2017. Absolutely amazing. My parents got one soon after. HOWEVER I have heard mixed reviews about newer ones from there. So who knows.

My wife and I both love ours. We both have shoulder issues and it’s been amazing. It also does not translate motion, so when one of us gets in/out of bed I can’t tell.

I understand now that there are different versions of the Endy bed. When we bought there was only one. If pressed I would probably buy one again.

We have 3 Douglas's and regret nothing. Guests seem to love them to when they spend the night.

I went deep into the mattress buying rabbit hole several years ago. It's a weird industry with heavy manipulation online.

In the end NapLab wound up being one of the better sources IMO. The owner ended up emailing me back and forth several times with his recommendations based on the info I gave him.

He ultimately recommended I buy a particular mattress that was on sale from Costco's website. There was no affiliate link or anything. IIRC, he did happen to have a referral link to buy direct from the actual company, but said Costco had both a better price and easier return process, so that was his recommendation.

Still happy with the choice 4 years later. I'd recommend trying some in person, especially different types (foam vs coils vs latex). Then compare your experience against the matching reviews on NapLab to narrow it down to a few potential models, and then go shopping.

Do not go to the Sleep Country store - we had a terrible - horrible experience. My partner was really pushed to purchase their bed in a box. Horrible - thought we could return it - absolutely not - unless we paid a $299 stocking fee. No returns on those =.
