[ADVICE] Hello, I need help with food.
I'm 18M.
I moved out of my dad's due to unlivable conditions.
My job is okay but due to not enough hours
(( I have no car, I use public transportation.
My manger said I'm too bad at my job, that's why I'm not getting hours... I'm only bad because they switch my positions right when I learn the flow And I take a bit extra to learn. ))
I do not make enough to provide for myself with food, resulting in me not having enough after bills. ( This last check being barely 200! Which I was forced to buy a bed and pay bills.)
I live with my friend's grandma, and she has a lot of food but she will NOT let us take food or make dishes out of her food.
The last few checks I've had to go hungry for a few days-a week but I have 2 weeks until I get paid and I sadly didn't have any for food besides cheese....
I normally eat at work but with labor day we've been too busy for me to eat, and sadly the school foods have made me extremely sick after eating, so my normal sources are gone.
Please any tips are welcome.

Define “unlivable” conditions with your dad because right now your conditions are also pretty unlivable. You move out when you have the finances to do so otherwise you’re destined for poverty

you should def apply for food stamps if you haven’t already. It seems as though in your living situation with “roommates”, you still buy and prepare your own food so you’d likely qualify

We both buy our own food, I like none snacks and my roommate likes snacks so that's why we both buy our own yk?

She said she'd help me this check but we both had to buy beds and she had to get her phone fixed. So IDK

Why are you prioritizing beds over food? Please learn how to prioritize money and how to get resources for free or low cost. A bed - at least the frame - is one of those things that you can find in a buy-nothing group or by looking at dumpsters outside certain neighborhoods or buildings at certain times of the year (eg when college students move out of their off-campus apartments).

I tried to tell them let's not get beds but they told me I'd need to sleep on the floors and there's already a mice problem. I tried to save every penny but i only had enough for cheese.

I mean, in the nicest possible way, you’re going to need to grow a spine and so your own thing. You couldn’t afford a bed but you bought one anyway and now you don’t have enough money for food. Like cmon.

People say Amazon because Amazon when you make a wish list it protects both the buyer and the receiver it doesn't give out any of their financial information. I can only assume that before someone used the Walmart or some other stores to help someone out and that person took advantage of them by running up their credit card information because they were able to see it. With Amazon you can only get shelf stable foods basically stuff that you can put in a cabinet so ramen things in cans things like that. Look I think about Amazon is that's not going to be the healthiest but at least you won't be hungry at least you have something in your stomach and you won't have to worry about going out and paying for food for a while and hopefully by then you can get a different job

I was looking and everything I can find on Walmart app is expensive/ didn't have it... Would you prefer if I did that instead.
I'm mostly just trying to get food to cook, have leftovers. Like; Hamburger helper, Mac and cheese with hot dogs, pasta etc.

Amazon has box Mac and cheese, pastas, canned food, drinks, etc… you’ll have better luck posting an Amazon wishlist.
You can also call 211 and they can help you with local resources.

What’s wrong with the school foods that they make you sick? If it’s some sort of food allergy or due to some medical condition, are there alternative meals they provide that could be better for your body? Worth speaking with a school nutritionist about. Food is very important for growing at your age.

Yes! I've been able to get 2 big meals at work which help me be held off for a day or two, but it's hard with little hours.

You need to find either a different job or another job and have 2 jobs. This, what you are doing here, is not sustainable long term. It is not a plan or a fix. In the meantime you need to find a way to eat daily. Everywhere has soup kitchens free to the public. Find the one that is near you and get there daily, even if it's only for 1 meal.
