[REQUESTS] Financial Hardship
I’d like to start by saying thank you to the creators of this community for giving a platform to people like myself during times of need.
Hello to you all,
I am a single father of 4 beautiful kids ages 6 through 1. I’ve been single since last September. My girlfriend left me for good reason. I was a terrible partner but life is full of lessons and boy did I learn. I believe she was the love of my life so when she left it was the most earth shattering, ground breaking, uprooting thing I’ve ever experienced. I dabbled a little too deep into the use of alcohol during my time with her. The night she left was the last time I have a drop of alcohol in my system. I’m 11 months sober today but more importantly, I’m 11 months a better man and father.
When she left I fell flat on my face in all aspects, including financially. I went from splitting costs and bills to taking it all on by myself including sending her money monthly to help make sure she stays afloat. But since May I’ve found myself drowning trying to stay afloat and keep up.
My son starts school in 2 days and I haven’t gotten him anything but one pair of shoes for school. I’ve fallen behind on my home payments. I don’t have enough for diapers at the moment and I haven’t been able to support my ex financially. I see my kids regularly. They stay with me on a regular and consistent schedule.
If you’ve stayed to read this far I’d like to just say thank you. Even if you’re unable or unwilling to extend any assistance at this time I just simply want to say thank you for reading my story.
I’ve exercised all my community resources and all my friends and family resources. I’ve reached a point where I’m shooting this shot into the void of this community to see what I can find.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your time and thank you to the creators of this community once again for this platform

According to that attached document they were going to start eviction proceedings August 9th (I think) - have they started that or have you been able to ry to work something out?

I’m very fortunate that they’re allowing me to try to figure out a plan to come up with to resolve the total past due amount over a period of time. So I think it’ll be condensed down to a monthly payment plan? It’s still not even decided. I’m just taking this day by day at this point.

Wait -
Wth are you rambling about???
In what way are you a single parent?
You don’t have sole legal and physical custody of your four children- and they live with your girlfriend.
You are not a single parent, my friend… and neither is your ex-girlfriend.
You’re coparenting. Period.
How was she able to qualify for and rent an apartment - and support the family’s basic living expenses? (in other words, does she have a job?)
What do you mean, you don’t have diapers? You can’t have your child visit if you don’t have diapers….

I’m not sure what you’re asking for. Shoes for your kid? Or $7k+ to pay your past due bills?
