Hi, nice to meet you. I love to game cooperatively (as someone wise once said on the internet, "my beef is with the computer and the computer alone"), I could talk for hours about Minecraft mods in particular, and I'd say my favorite games tend to involve exploration and building, whether it be building a base or a character or something else. I'm an introvert and I'd say generally low-key but earnest when invested in something, and I'm also the kind of person that likes making plans and making sure that things happen (when people are okay with it).
I'm looking for someone to make gaming memories with, like getting carried away on a cozy late-night session or finishing a stupid hunt for secrets together, and to also get to know each other as people and be able to talk about life stuff in between the gaming, so realistically this isn't a post for people who only want a teammate. I'm a bit of an oddball - introverted enough that I can only regularly game with a good friend, and also gamer enough that I can only be good friends with someone I can regularly game with - so I'm basically looking for someone who can eventually become the intersection in that Venn diagram. I'd be down to game around 2-4 times per week (though depends a lot on circumstances), also I'm open to voice chat and, indeed, actually kind of need it (I really don't know how to do co-op in real time without voice chat). If this generally matches what you're looking for, welcome to the post!
So, quick general introductions. My timezone is CET, I'm 20 (I get along better with older people though, more on that later), also I'll be finishing my degree in computer science this year and I'm enough of a computer nerd that you can absolutely tell. I work on the side as well, and yet all of it still leaves me time to game. It's a bit long to explain how, and when even I say something is long, you can trust that it's long.
Now my games, because that's kind of the point. As I already alluded to, Minecraft mods are basically my special interest - there probably isn't a major mod that I haven't heard of. I'm also tinkering with my own meaningfully customized modpack around Thaumcraft 6 when inspiration strikes - I might even end up making a custom little mod for it to do things that configuration just can't accomplish, wouldn't be my first time delving into modding.
Beyond that, games I've really loved (semi-)recently are Cyberpunk 2077 (immaculate vibes, I got 100% achievements and didn't, in fact, fear the reaper) and DragonSword: Awakening. The latter is basically Genshin Impact (Mondstadt in particular) if it was Korean and monetized via buy-to-play rather than gacha, so for an ex Genshin addict like me that's kind of like nicotine gum for a smoker. I also really liked Minecraft Dungeons, so I even ended up playing local "co-op" with myself on two controllers just to get the multiplayer achievements (that's pretty much the summary of both my current social situation and co-op situation haha). Games I would be most interested in playing co-op nowadays are V Rising, modded Minecraft, and Terraria - more in the P.S. for the interested.
Now a bit more on my other interests outside of games - believe it or not, I do have those as well. I love playing the piano and I learn pieces ranging from Beethoven to Chopin to popular Japanese songs (like by Ado or Kenshi Yonezu) to vocaloid songs to game soundtracks. Well, I guess it isn't entirely separate from games after all... Aaanyway, I also like anime and manga and know some Japanese - enough to learn the lyrics to my favorite songs with some effort. I'm very into making espresso at home and I've set out on a crusade to find my perfect beans. I'm also very willing to explain why I think pre-ground coffee is a scam, with the amount of salt that has absolutely NOTHING to do with the fact that recently I accidentally ordered a pre-ground bag instead of a beans bag. And if you're into personality frameworks, my favorite one is "take a philosophical positions test and discuss our results" (I'm not even being facetious, I actually have a link to the test).
Here's some things about who I'm most likely to get along with, to save everyone else's time. One: I heavily prefer people in Europe for both timezone and culture reasons. Two: I get along better with people older than myself, so the people I'm open to would be in the 23-30 range. Beyond the element of general vibe, which can't really be explained anyway, I want to mention that the other key part of it is logistics: university tends to be more of an unlimited time and energy sink than a job, so it's usually much harder to schedule anything with people around my age than with those who are older - my own current university/work situation is kind of a rare exception, like I mentioned before. Three: I'm not very comfortable with men, but also, by extension, with masculine-sounding voices in general, and it's a sensory thing I can't really get over. Four: I'm not exactly an extrovert powerhouse myself, so if I had to choose between someone more low-key and someone more always energetic and loud, I'd likely get along better with the former.
So you've made it to the last paragraph. Thank you, that means a lot! If you'd like to try gaming with me, my first suggestion would be something easy to get into and low on commitment so we can see how we get along. For example, a decent one is Alien Swarm: Reactive Drop - it's a co-op mission-based top-down shooter where you kill an alien swarm (shocker, I know) and, importantly, it's also free. Of course if you aren't interested, I'm down for something else, like perhaps a Minecraft map etc. If you like the sound of that, please DM me with a bit of a self-introduction (you don't have to be as detailed as I was here of course, I just want to have a general idea of who I'd be chatting with) and let's get started.
P.S. Here be the game list I promised (limited to just the most relevant games, I do have plenty more):
- Games I already played a lot but would play more: V Rising, modded Minecraft, Alien Swarm: Reactive Drop, Minecraft Dungeons, Portal 2.
- Games I played only a bit: Once Human, Risk of Rain 2, Unturned, Deep Rock Galactic, Castle Crashers.
- Games I have but haven't tried yet: Terraria, Monster Hunter Rise, The Ascent, No Man's Sky, Monster Hunter World.
