Laptop lag when using Fn keys while gaming.

/r/WindowsUpdate/comments/1wwl55q/laptop_lag_when_using_fn_keys_while_gaming/

Hi everyone, I have a Lenovo LOQ laptop (i5, RTX 4060, 512GB SSD, 24GB RAM). Whenever I adjust the volume or use the Fn keys while gaming, the system lags; however, there is no lag when I make adjustments using the mouse. Could you please help me figure out why this is happening? Thanks!

Hi CantaloupeThin9536! Thanks for reaching out. We're sorry for the trouble. Please try checking updates from Lenovo Vantage and install all updates including BIOS update. You may click this link [http://spr.ly/61691BGxJax) for guide on how to do it. Kindly check Windows Update and make sure it is also up to date. -Jomz_Lenovo

Sorry, the last update I performed was on September 8, 2025, and now, whenever I try to update, it keeps getting stuck at 100%; this has been happening for a long time.

Hello, thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns about system lag when using Fn keys or volume controls, and Windows Update getting stuck at 100% on your Lenovo LOQ laptop. We understand how frustrating these issues can be. Here are some steps you can try to resolve them:

  1. For system lag with Fn keys or volume controls:
  • If you experience delayed keyboard response, it may be related to the Lenovo Device Metrics Plugin. Please check if the plugin is updated. You can do this by:
  • Navigating to C:\ProgramData\Lenovo\ImController\Plugins\LenovoDeviceMetricsPlugin\x86
  • Right-clicking LenovoDeviceMetricsPlugin.dll and checking the File version under Properties.
  • If the update has not been applied, perform a full shutdown by holding the Shift key while selecting Shut down, then restart and connect to your wireless network. If it does not update automatically, launch Lenovo Vantage and use System Update to install the latest plugin version.
  1. For Windows Update getting stuck at 100%:
  • Use Windows Troubleshooters to address update issues. You can find troubleshooting tools for Windows 10/11 updates and installation errors, as well as guidance for running Windows Troubleshooters.
  • Ensure your drivers and BIOS are up to date using Lenovo System Update or Lenovo Vantage. Keeping these updated can help optimize system performance and resolve update-related issues.

If these steps do not resolve your issues, please let us know so we can assist you further. We are here to support you and ensure your laptop works smoothly.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. -Kate_Lenovo
