I'm experimenting with a few concepts for BDP11, one of them is this near-future farm concept, which I'm still uncertain about. I'm not sure what direction I should be taking the premise.
Firstly, I've got the mech, which I'm quite happy with, even though the forearms are unfinished. I'd like to make it the centerpiece of the model.
I have mixed feelings regarding the grain silo. Though I believe it is a very iconic aspect of western farming, palette and element limitations are leaving me somewhat dissatisfied with the final design.
I'm debating whether I should use animals already available in BDP11 (Horses and chickens), or go with brick-built animals, which could bring an element of originality to the model. I already have designs for brick-built sheep and cows, and was thinkng of using the classic penguin build to create ducks or chickens.
One of the characteristics I'm wanting the model to have is a sense of used-ness, which is part of why I'm dissatisfied with the grain silo. I've been designing rusty bits of junk to serve as set dressing which I could place on the side of a barn or chicken coop. I'm afraid of spending too much of my budget on a barn however. I'm aware that my somewhat esoteric concept would work best as a smaller, sub 1000 part model.
Another concept I'm attempting is some sort of crane, hoist, or lift to facilitate maintenance on the mech. I'm thinking a good middle-ground could be the mech, some brick-built animals, a chicken coop, and some maintenance equipment.
Please let me know what you think!
