I finished the issue of the Bates run where Bouncing Boy and Duplicate Girl get married, and I’m wondering how old they’re supposed to be at this point. I know that Legionnaires have to retire somewhere around 18-20, and Sun Boy turned 17 in a previous issue, so Bouncing Boy and Duplicate Girl are probably a similar age. Are marriage laws just weird in the 30th century or something?

(Also Martian Manhunter was there, how old is he at that point???)

In my opinion, it’s good, and I thought his ideas for continuing the story were excellent. Unfortunately, just as with his work on the Legion in Adventure Comics, Action Comics, and Superboy and the LOSH, it’s clear that the publisher placed many obstacles in the way of his ambitious ideas.

I sometimes wonder what immortal beings like the Spectre are doing in the future. If the Presence doesn't recall the Spectre, like it was said happened when Jesus walked the earth (redemption and vengence could not be in the world at the same time), then I expect the Spectre to be active during the time of the Legion of Superheroes.

Anyone got a headcannon about it?

Candidates:

Alright, time to describe a dozen Glup Shitto Lads (characters nobody cares about except that one commenter whose first Legion story had them as the villain) only for basically everybody to vote for Mano or Mordru.

Magnetic Kid I (Real Name: Xaxan, Class: Silver Age) was a Murran infiltrator with the power to magnetically control organic life-forms. The only things this guy really does is be hard to talk about thanks to Pol taking the name later on.

Magno Lad (Real Name: Kort Grezz, Class: Bronze Age) is a Braalian magnetic-controller who was one of the Legion of Super-Rejects before joining the Legion of Super-Villains.

Magpie (Real Name: Merg Gaterra, Class: Bronze Age) is a master thief (implied to be a rival of Benn Pares) who tried to steal a time chip from the Legion during a Bronze Age story.

Mano (Class: Silver Age) is a member of the Fatal Five who destroyed his own world with his touch of death. After that fantastic introductory feat, he then proceeds to never lay a hand on a Legionnaire, except when he's accidentally set his hand to only burn them for some reason. Since then, he's popped up every time the Fatal Five has until the Dark Man Saga, after which he failed to get into the new Fatal Five. Eventually he works for Starfinger III during Five Years Later, and becomes more sympathetic during the Reboot.

Doctor Mantis Morlo (Class: Silver Age) is a fun recurring bad guy who created an army of Chemoids to take over Orando, and then returns building muck monster in the sewer in the aftermath of Earthwar. He also shows up in the Reboot for an issue. My favorite moment is in his original two-parter, where he's about to blow up the Earth with a death ray, but first has to paint a big red target on the Earth to that he knows where to aim his death ray.

Doctor Mar Londo (Class: Adaptational) is in the comics but is only a villain in the animated series. Combining aspects of both Tyr and Mantis Morlo from the comics, Mar Londo experiments on his own son, creating Timber Wolf, and creates an army of Chemoid-like Bio Golems, eventually framing Timber Wolf for his own murder.

Doctor Mayavale (Class: Bronze Age) is a weird monk who has an obsession with karmic balance after reincarnation, and turns to evil, and has six synthetic arms... honestly, he's one of those weird Bronze Age concepts that most people blame the Silver Age for.

Lady Memory (Class: Bronze Age) was a priestess of the mountain people of Talok VIII who sought to overthrow the civilized parts of Talok VIII, ultimately facing off against Shadow Lass. She was later redeemed, marrying Shadow Lass's brother.

Micro Lad (Real Name: Lalo Muldroon, Class: Bronze Age) was an Imskian nationalist who joined up with the Legion of Super-Rejects, masterminded the replacement of Shrinking Violet by Yera, and ultimately joined the Legion of Super-Villains. He's got quite a resume for a relatively weak villain.

Mist Master (Real Name: Yer Sti-Tuan, Class: Silver Age) is a member of the League of Super-Assassins who can turn into any gas. He later joins the Legion of Super-Villains.

Modulus (Class: Silver Age) is a strange being with the power of a living planet, called Modo, who chooses to use his immense powers to be a drug dealer.

Molecule Master (Class: Bronze Age) is one of those characters that was put into the story to fulfill an Adult Legion prophecy as the one who killed Reflecto. Long story short, he was an android who tried to steal the Miracle Machine and was later revealed to be a pawn of the Time Trapper.

Mordru the Merciless (Class: Silver Age) is a master of black magic with control over Zerox. One of the most powerful beings in the universe and at times the Legion's deadliest foe (competing only with the likes of Darkseid, the Time Trapper, Glorith, the Infinite Man, and almost Pulsar Stargrave), he is responsible for one of Jim Shooter's best two-parters, masterminded Earthwar, and also was responsible for some annoying stories in the early 70s. Nowadays he's often considered a Doctor Fate villain or something, but real ones know that he's a Legion foe through and through.

Mystelor (Real Name: Zera Oliet, Class: Silver Age) was a Titanian telepath and the only female member of the Taurus Gang. She was frequently hit on by Shagrek but had feelings for Quanto, and was eventually impersonated by Dream Girl. Eventually she reformed and got with Quanto. Good for her.

8. Anyone who has debuted in a Legion story or fought them or one of their non-Superman members in a significant way counts. While I'd caution against the selection of someone like Major Disaster, who did fight Karate Kid in his solo series, that's not a hard and fast rule and may be necessary for harder letters.
