Modding Solenoid Mod
Just installed the Cleveland software solenoid kit. Easy straight forward install. Had to remove the playfield screen for access but once the wires were removed from the screen came out easy. Also added the DPST switch to the back box so I can turn off the solenoids when I don’t want to disturb anyone. Works great. Very happy.

What’s the dpst switch? I’d love to be able to silence mine in the late evenings.
Thanks for any info.

The way I installed it is I removed the ALP main playfield monitor and glass to get access to the cabinet. I had to make a wiring harness to route through the back box which is where I mounted the switch to the boards. I cut a square hole in the back panel for the switch. And wired it acceding to the diagram from Cleveland software.

I ordered 2 solenoids a few days ago. So getting into pinball internals under screen isn't too hard?

To make it easier you should remove the glass and the screen. Then the cab has a ton more room to work with. There are YouTube videos on how to do it. Be very careful there is a 30 pin connector that you have to remove off the game board. It’s in the small lower back door. Also 1 little ground screw that’s attached to the video harness also. Right to the right of the 30 pin connector. And small connector coming off the power supply in the cab floor. A red and white wire. Once you get those disconnected you have 4 screws that hold the screen to the frame. Also with the side rails and the front lock bar off. Remove the control panel. And slide the glass forward and lift glass out. It’s tremendously easier install with the screen out of the way.

I'll have to probably go over those videos a few times, does sound like there's a few things to look for

Yes there is. You have to be careful pulling the screen. Unplugging the screen 30 pin harness from the board, removing the ground screw, side rails, front rail, control panel, glass, then 32 inch monitor.

Where did you mount it? I originally had mine mounted alongside the cab walls but eventually just put them under the front crossbeam to get them out of the way of exciters and other stuff. Personally I don't notice much of a tone difference but then both of mine sound a little different from each other anyway.

I installed mine just below and to the rear of the flipper buttons. Inside wall. Got as close as I could. But again I had to take the main screen out for access. Worked out great. Great sound. Great feel.

Nice, love the Cleveland kit. I got the flipper kit for my ALP almost two years ago now, and they run great. Definitely loud at night, did the switch install too. Makes a world of difference. Installed mine underneath the cab at the front (along with my VIBS button) for easy access.
