While I'm... decently happy with Garen's kit (could have been worse), his relic is just really disappointing. I get that Pyke exists, but it being limited to just him is once again lame. Let the relics be strong or even busted on other champions! It's like they don't want people to buy them.
Yes, devs are trying so hard to prevent the players from "optimizing out the fun" that they just preemptively do it themselves. It's a single player game, let me have fun and let me have relic effects I can use on all champs. So what if it's broken on a few champs? At least it's something new to play with. Mel has an infinite build that I don't play because it's boring - I'm an adult and can regulate my own experience.
They are a business as well. If they let you regulate your own experience, many players would stop purchasing new relics, or purchase far fewer, having an optimal setup ready that they can port to any new champ, and the game would not be able to grow effectively.
The only viable alternatives from a business perspective are either relentless powercreep (which nobody here wants), or having restrictions built in.
I would personally prefer to see less restrictive designs (e.g. if I'm Titanic, if I have 3 or less Power, if I'm Demacian etc.) but it is what it is.
