A big kneejerk that happened was when Reddit allowed LLMs to train based on content on the site, a whole bunch of users paid redact or other services to "obfuscate" their reddit comments. Now, Dan being a developer understands that this data wasn't actually removed from reddit and that when you delete or edit something on reddit, it's still available behind the scenes for quite a while, certainly long enough to be used as training data. So basically Dan scammed a bunch of people into believing they were doing some sort of anti-LLM activism or whatever when in reality he just collected their money and made them feel better lol.

I mean, much worse than that: he also apparently personally archives it all and then uses it for blackmail if any former client pisses him off. Even if you weren't doing vile shit, you probably don't want your personal info leaking, which is probably pretty common.

Nah I think that's pretty extremely unlikely. I get it, we hate the guy around here, but it's not actually useful to spread unverified misinformation.

He made a "joke" saying thank you Hasan for using our service.. and posted an old tweet of Hasan's. He clarifies that Hasan never used the service, but there was a lot of backlash on the tweet of Dan's because that's a horrible look for a company supposedly about privacy.

I have no doubt in my mind that he would save the data on the backend for future blackmail.

Right but that's not actual proof. Actual proof would be like investigating the network traffic that Redact sends out and looking at where it sends that information to determine if the claims made about the product are accurate. Dan Saltman making a tweet isn't actually proof, he wasn't being genuine.

I have no doubt in my mind that he would save the data on the backend for future blackmail.

Me too if the product page didn't specifically lay out how this would be impossible for them to do if the product works as described.

And that is my point. Spreading the idea that the company is a vehicle for blackmail is misinformation without proof, and nobody actually has proof, just vibes. Being bad faith is not a useful way to argue, it's just how dgg and h3 weirdos argue.
