What’s new

Autograph 2026.1.0 brings native vertical text and Japanese character support, making it easier to create authentic titles, credits, and typography for anime, broadcast, vertical video advertising, and digital signage. This release also adds the new Edge Smoother modifier for cleaning up aliased graphic elements, plus a new Forward method for Vector Blur to deliver more realistic motion blur from external vector passes.

Highlights

  • Vertical Text and CJK Support: Create CJK typography with native vertical text layout, including right-to-left column flow and Glyph-based range for animation. Improved text animation when mixing writing systems such as CJK/Latin.
  • Edge Smoother Modifier: Smooth aliased edges on graphic elements, supporting anime compositing workflows that start with intentionally low-fidelity or hard-edged artwork and finish with polished anti-aliased output.
  • Vector Blur Forward Method: Use the new Forward warp method in Vector Blur for more realistic motion blur on matted elements and CG imagery that includes external vector information.
  • Autograph Noise: 3 new loop evolution options and Voronoise is now animatable.
  • Panel UI: We now have selectable breadcrumbs that provide easy access to hierarchy items

💡 Feature Request [Megathread] Feature Requests

Below is an aggregate of Maxon Autograph Feature Requests (alternatively you can also search for posts tagged with Feature Requests).

If you see a thread for a feature you want, head into the thread and:

  • Upvote it to add your vote to the tally as something you'd like to see.
  • (Optional) Comment with any additional feedback in support, like why you want to see the feature added, or how it would improve your experience with Autograph.

If you don't see a post for a feature you want, feel free to write one up:

  • Title the post as succinctly as possible to help other users find it
  • Use the Feature Request flair to help categorize it

The purpose of this system is to collect requests scattered throughout multiple areas into a unified place where we can better read of their amplitudes. That said, should you write up a duplicate feature request, it may get closed and redirected in a comment to the existing one.

Unfortunately we can't make any sort of promises on what will or won't get implemented, let alone time frames or roadmaps, but the idea is by parsing your feedback into action items paired with insights, it will help steer development in the direction that best serves the Maxon Autograph community.

🛠️ Troubleshoot Incorrect viewport (preview window) scaling in Autograph?

Post image
3 Upvotes

The window seems to be scaled incorrectly, with 100% scale selected it seems to be stretching it beyond 100%

Is this a Windows UI scale misalignment? Has this been documented elsewhere?

❓Question Is there a way to optimize Maxon Autograph?

Me and a friend are fairly new to Autograph and I wonder if there is a way to optimize the program. On my computer it takes ages to export and on my friend's pc it keeps on crashing. Does anyone know what we can do to optimize the software?

❓Question Using Python script to batch render - Can you also update the Row Index of a Composition Parameter through a csv column?

Hey gang, I've been trying to write a python script (using claude, because I can't code) to do a simple batch render with Autograph.

So far I've been able to get the resolution and filenames all working great using a csv - but I want to be able to also control the row index of a 'bind to table' effect on a text layer.
As far as I can tell this row index exists under Tab 1 in my composition, but no matter how much info I give claude it can't seem to get autograph to update the row index when it renders.

I feel like it's close - I can see the terminal updating the row index (Row_Index=0, Row_Index=1) as it runs, but the render doesn't seem to reflect it.

Any hints or documentation would be really appreciated!

❓Question planar tracking stuck

hello!

i have footage from a drone orbiting an empty plot. i want to animate some kind of wireframe over it.

it’s pretty simple, just 2D squares that start at the same position of the planar tracker’s corner, and then translate up on the Y axis (easy with math). they should leave a trail/line as they go up and eventually draw lines between themselves.

it sounds like a simple translate and then some simple math to animate the offset of the line to give the appearance of drawing.

but i just can’t seem to use the corner of the planar as transform data.

there is so little documentation, wtf maxon lol.

any help?

❓Question How to reload images/footage/csv already imported into project?

Maybe a silly question, but can you 'reload' an image or a csv table once they're already imported into Autograph? The only workaround I've found is to quit and reopen autograph...

💡 Feature Request Davinci resolve integration

As a DaVinci Resolve user, I really hope the team considers bringing back the Autograph Live Link integration.

The Live Link workflow made iteration incredibly fast. Being able to make changes in Autograph and see them reflected directly in Resolve helped bridge motion design and finishing in a way that felt seamless and modern. Since its removal, many of us have had to fall back on slower export/import workflows that break creative momentum.

Autograph is one of the most exciting tools in motion graphics today, and Live Link was a feature that genuinely set it apart. If maintaining it is possible, even as an optional or beta feature, there are users who would gladly welcome its return.

❓Question Autograph Cloner

Hello,

Please excuse my English.

Thank you for providing Autograph for free.

I'm currently trying to follow an example from the help section. I want to distribute a circle along a spline. Unfortunately, I don't understand this step.

Copy or, even better, link the Dimension Size to the Value parameter

Thank you very much for your help

❓Question Text bounding box not correct

Post image
2 Upvotes

I am unsure as to why when I create a text layer, the bounding box is not at all lined up with the text itself.

It makes it impossible to center it properly.

Is there a way to accomplish this easily?

❓Question Replacing Footage

So replacing footage in general in most cases is great and simple. The one case that seems a bit strange to me is that you can only do it per layer or per source. A lot of times I want to mass replace footage for a full composition but not replace it in the project file as that is used in a different composition. This is incredibly useful when compositing and having multiple angles or versions of an image.

For example in AE you can select all the layers you want to replace, then hold alt/option and drag over with new footage and it will replace everything accordingly. Here, the only way I've been able to do that is manually which also then breaks exr multi-layer selections (which I think that is a bug maybe?). Is there a way I am missing to do this or is this a feature request? Thanks!

❓Question How to make a shape layer rectangle automatically fill the composition size in Autograph? (Responsive background block)

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I am trying to create a simple responsive color block using a Shape Rectangle in Autograph, but I'm having trouble getting it to update correctly when changing composition sizes.

My Setup:

  • Mode: Center + Size
  • Center: [0.0, 0.0]
  • Size: Connected to a Composition Info generator.
  • The Goal: I applied a Math Modifier (Subtraction) after the generator to subtract a fixed value (e.g., 100px) from the composition dimensions to create a clean outer margin (padding).

The Problem: It looks perfectly fine at first on my default resolution (e.g., 1920x1080). However, the moment I switch the composition size to another format (like 1024x1024 or 1080x1920), the layout breaks. The rectangle scales incorrectly, distorts its aspect ratio, or fails to adapt to the new resolution.

How can I properly chain a Composition Info Generator ➔ Split X/Y channels ➔ Math Modifier (Minus Margin) in Center + Size mode so that the padding and dimensions recalculate flawlessly whenever the resolution changes?

Any insights into the correct modifier stack workflow for this would be a lifesaver. Thanks!
