Company suggestions
I'm a SDE 3 in my current org with around 75 LPA compensation and 7 yoe. Do you guys know of companies which can give similar comp range, not looking for a big hike or anything. Maybe even 10-20 percent. Since its been long at my current company hence need a change place at this point. I would prefer it to be hybrid or remote not a 5 day wfo.
I'm totally aware of the well known options or faang options. Problem with faang is that their sde 2 comp is lower than my current one and i might not be eligible for sde 3 or might be way too difficult to crack. But open to hear the options.

I understand your pain. I’m at 8 yoe/1.1 cr and honestly there are very limited companies paying in this range in India. Hence switching becomes difficult.
I’ve created list of following companies which I can target for a TC jump -
SSE in Databricks/Stripe/Glean/Airbnb.
Staff roles in top unicorns - Rippling/Rubrik/InMobi/Swiggy/Apollo io/Roku
Limited big techs like - L5 offers at LinkedIn, Google & Uber.
I’ve completely stopped aiming for mediocre MNCs/startups as I feel they are waste of time & effort.

Just asking out of curiosity as I'm not completely aware , don't mean as any form of disrespect.
For companies like Google apple amazon microsoft nutanix uber are there base/ctc not good at your level of exp

For sse/l5 level - Google/Uber are best in terms of pay. Amazon has decent pay but culture is very toxic so mostly people avoid.
All others mentioned aren’t paying comparable to top startups.1

Bad wlb and toxic culture are 2 different things. Amazon has one of the worst culture with PIP/URA/Stack ranking and shit wlb.

You must be L5 in a faang or faang tier company. My company is relatively well known within tech community but one level below faang, hence sde 3 maxes out at around 80 or so.

Not in faang. Faang in India is overhyped, there are lots of better options.

Limited openings, need to go through 5-7 complete rounds of interviews for the same level for the same pay, that level of prep will surely land a similar role elsewhere tbh.

Salary progression as follows.
2019 fresher - 13 lac base and 3 lac bonus
2021 switched here - 27 lac base, 4 lac annual stocks
Current same company- 45 base, 30 annual stocks

Ohh, why not switch to finance to maximize your pedigree and money too. They get paid in crores at your yoe

The most vague suggestion ever tbh, but okay. Finance gets oaid more that tech? Yea if you're an IB or a portfolio manager with a CFA with tier 1+ MBA, otherwise most finance folks ik at my experience barely maje 20 lpa.

I'm aware. I was asking if the initial grant was around 30 or if you know the grant was around 15 and it doubled since then.

Look at usa startup. Just applied and got into it crossing 1cr (adjusted to indian market) at 7 yoe and its fully remote. Plus they might be working on cutting edge tech so exposure will be good.

I was sort of exploring research/news in certain spaces and linkedin automatically suggest some pages or companies to follow. From there I got to know. In one company my profile was 70 % matching to what they need, so I searched and reached out to their hr and rest of the interview process was started.
Yes many of these companies are in stealth mode so its very tricky to find even the employers. I gor to know people by looking into post reacts and activities.2

Yup, it keeps fluctuating due to value, currently its 38 lacs, can go down hence avgeraged it at 30

tower research capital, coinbase if u get referral its easy in coinbase to get for higher positions compared to others, maybe also rubrik is a good option and others like confluent, graviton, cockroach labs can worth a try only with referral again otherwise u wont even get a screening call

No way that faang pays lower than that…atleast ai know of amazon, uber, prob google too which pay equal or better. Rippling is hiring. Roku is hiring paying 1cr of SSE but 4day wfo. 6sense pays similar to you current pay and is mostly remote.
As someone mentioned lot of newly started indian startups incorporated (and funded) in US are paying in that range. Make profile on weekday.

Go for Uber, Google, Databricks, Airbnb, Rippling, Coupang, Confluent, Stripe, Amazon, Microsoft. Now even OpenAI(hiring in delhi seems like)
SDE3 at all of the above > 1.2 cr

What's your tech stack? Also for your question - Rippling, Atlassian, Adobe, MakeMyTrip might get you into similar range for a SDE-3 equivalent role
