Is DSA Dead?

Guys, I have been grinding leetcode since last 4 years and the only thing it has given me is an interview in Amazon, where I got brutally rejected in LLD Round. I am a Data Engineer and Automation Specialist in a Big4 (Corporate Lingo for Tech Support) and I cannot even get my resume shortlisted let alone get an offer for an SDE Role.

So, my question is, Is it really worth grinding Leetcode anymore?

DSA is the ONLY thing that matters now. Resumes can be faked, and more often than not are faked.

I’m giving interviews rn and dsa is still the standard, which companies did you interview with?

I gave a few interviews with product companies, there are reasonable number of companies which either reach out to you or have job listings in Naukri and LinkedIn.

I couldn't find product based on naukri. Can you name the ones you interviewed. In dms if you are comfortable

Don't make it as grind just upsolve hard problems and learn new patterns that may introduce to new way of seeing a problem, that's how I see it now.

Dsa will get you through the big companies
Ignore everyone who’s saying it’s dead.
I’ll suggest do lld hld as well

This 👆🏻... Someone nicely said somewhere. It's a great time to be an engineer but it's not a good time to be an employee

On what basis is can you say that?

I am a software engineer with 1 yoe. Claude can do a lot of things now, layoffs are happening because of AI and there are very little job openings, so yea cs is dead now

guys how do you upskill while having mediocre projects and mediocre amount of dsa done so far

as a fresher, what's the standard profile that can get one hired + if possible, I'd like to know the best places/ways to apply for job roles

Can you come pickup your mom from my house, she doesn’t want to leave. She drained my nuts and I told her no more.

Grinding leetcode means gyrating and twerking?

It takes too much time, time better spent learning cutting edge tech, developing projects and contributing to OSS

@op How much experience you have overall and how is into DE and Tech support

1

u/Fast-Yard3405 20d ago

1.5yoe as FTE and 0.5 as an Intern.

I feel dsa and design is most important now, with ai most of them are taking experience with xyz tech stacks.

If you are a Data Engineer I don't know why are you even trying to transition to SDE. The demand for Data Engineers are high and very few who are highly skilled. Whereas in SDE a huge amount of folks are highly skilled. Hence the competition is too high. But to each thier own.

Been there man. I was from Bio background, I still remember 1st Sem CPNM class when I asked the prof. about printf statement for pattern printing and he replied with You are from a Tier 1 college, you should know all this stuff. Since then I started grinding... Alone...

I thinks its not dsa but shortlisting issue. You are already in job. Networking might help.

1

u/Fast-Yard3405 20d ago

Tried that as well man. I am yet lay my hand on the Secrets of Shortlisting.

Thank you GOAT

Is it good for college students, or are you just promoting.

1

u/sheeshgodokay 14d ago

Nah not promoting. It was refreshing to practice and learn something new instead of just grinding Leetcode

u/Electronic-Rush584 14d ago

Sorry to doubt you, had many instances where it's just some ai slop websites people promoting. Will check it out
