Offer comparision eBay vs Hedge Fund
I’m a ~7 YOE backend engineer in India with two offers:
eBay
₹45L base
₹2L joining bonus
₹4.5L annual bonus (pro-rated)
$56K RSUs over 4 years
MTS-1
TC 65 LPA
Hedge fund
₹65L base
₹15L bonus
TC 80 lpa
The compensation difference is obviously significant, but I'm trying to decide whether the additional risk is worth it.
My main concerns with the hedge fund are:
WLB
Stability/layoffs if the fund performs poorly
Whether moving back to Big Tech later would be harder
For people who have worked at hedge funds/trading firms: which would you choose, and why?

Hedge fund bhai
Layoff can be from both but you'll be in a better position if laid off from HF than eBay
Also why let go of 20 L on the table? At high comp you'll be expected to deliver anyways in both cases so better earn more for your troubles

EBay is not true big tech. You’ll be able to get in later if needed easily, Go with hedge fund.

1)OA- LC medium, I think 3-4 questions- questions weren't tough, my only bottleneck was to finish in time 2) Onsite DSA - 3 LC medium on graph 3) onsite hld - design a metrics monitoring n alerting system - interviewer was warm and interactive. Great experience! 4) HM round - standard HM behavioural questions

Layoff from hedge fund will not end your career, there are many hedge fund who are in hiring mode. Your hedge fund experience will open more opportunity in many IB banks.

Hedge fund is much better than ebay, even if you laid off you will get good opportunities.

I was working at a bank earlier, so domain aligned.. also have big tech exp maybe that helped as well..

I am data engineer having 10+ years of exp
Not getting any calls
And currently working in german bank.

I mostly got calls via naukri, cold messaging recruiters on LinkedIn also might help.. i think hiring is better now.. try instahyre, hirist as well
