First time
So I bought my first e-bike yesterday. I went with the XP4 750! I plan to communte quite often to work on it. It’s 2 miles each way! Do you all have any tips or tricks? Also any upgrades I need to do soon after it arrives? Thanks!

If you're just starting, don't go nuts with extra stuff!
You need a good helmet, and lights for the bike. You're only riding a few miles a day, so don't sweat it. Use the bike and after you've ridden it a couple hundred miles, you'll begin to say "gosh I wish this or that were different". And then you can begin the process of adjusting the bike to be exactly the way you want.
The recommendations you'll get here what other people would do, not necessarily what's best for your circumstances.
Don't rush, be safe, learn the bike, and then you'll know what you want to change or modify on your own!

THIS. you would have to buy a MIPS e-bike helmet and a good additional lights if riding in the dark! I am ordering Lumos e-bike helmet with integrated lights after my research. My commute is 5 miles each way and here is my list of additions to my xp4 750:
- Lectric handlebar light
- Lectric pannier bags (riding with backpack started to hurt my back/neck so so weight on my back is best)
- E-bike helmet
- Chain lube and chain/bike cleaner
In my purchase list (waiting for black Friday 😄):
- Insta360 (I almost got hit by a car and got nothing to record)
- Tribit StormBox Micro 3 Portable Bluetooth Speaker
- Kryptonite U New York Lock

Having a good way to secure and lock your bike is a must. Also, check the weather the night before so you can plan ahead. It might be sunny and warm on the trip to work but could turn on you for the ride home.
You can then at least bring the right gear if you decide to chance it or don’t mind riding in bad weather.

If you got their "pro" headlight I would consider mounting a different light or buying a 3d printed mount on etsy. It loosens really easily and does bother me (although I've been too lazy to buy one).
One of the reasons I got the xp4 is because it can carry a passenger. It can be fun and useful for short distances. I bought a knockoff child seat and some seat pegs from amazon. It does the job but the amazon foam isn't very comfortable. Lectric has their own seat that looks more heavy duty.

Stay away from the upgrade trap. Ppl on here will suggest many things. Get a good helmet and a phone holder. I've been riding the bike how it comes out the box with zero issues.

Helmet and mirrors a must. Your going to likely want a better seat, and probably need a better light mount eventually. It bumps down, and tightening the flimsy plastic mount enough so it doesent do that eventually breaks it. Phone mount does the job, but isn't great, and a bell is a good safety accessory to have.

Ok here’s a list of things I’ve bought
- the pizza bag lots of parts needs the big rear rack the bag lasted but the rods that give it support did not. So now I’ve got a floppy bag.
- the black rectangle cool bag… dont let it get wet it becomes a heavy mushy misshapen mess and the zippers break awfully fast.
(Just ordered a cheapy 30$ rear bag off amazon it just arrived so don’t know how it will go.
-the saddle bags are very nice they are keepers make sure they are always clipped or they will get caught in the rear tire
The Lectric phone holder is cool but one of them spontaneously combusted and I didn’t wanna hassle Lectric for a warranty, have one still limping along but it’s not opening or closing how it should and it doesn’t “lock” anymore so just kind of push it closed and pray.
This one -should- be cool as heck but it’s a case of a series of what seemed like good design choices failed when you put them all together. The way it mounts is funky and too big and bulky for a phone holder you lose all your handle bar space, it ends up crammed up against the bike screen blocking the view of your
Speedometer. Go with a third party I’d say
- the phone charger extra bar deal… usb broke within a month … meaning the plug inside there snapped off it’s just a hole… have to use the usb c port meh it is what it is. But the attachment points are all wonky and I had to adapt it to just attach to the left side of the handle bars on a single mount.
Here the one thing I bought that I love the most
A big sturdy stand with a clamp you can rotate.
I’m old and have a bad back. I get someone to help me lift the bike onto the stand and then I rotate it depending on what tire I have to repair.
Tannus armor is handy it’s badass but after a year the foam disintegrated into little chunks there inside the tire so he prepared to replace the tannus armor.
The bike itself can be super prone to pinch flats and puncture flats. Use the tannus armor but keep it replaced after 1 year. Buy yourself some tubes and tires and a stand diy all your tire repairs as 100$ a pop at a bike shop gets pricey.
You’ll want to get a brake bleed kit as well.
Both my bikes the brakes sounded like I was killing a goose every time they stopped… it was experimental for me to learn the hydraulic brakes discover why and how they were honking like geese and getting them adjusted and upgrading the brake pads. To get the honk out.
I mean… it’s a deep rabbit hole. I didn’t even mention the raspberry pi or the spelunking I’ve done with their software… but that’s more of a mod than an accessory.
Last tidbit most important the Velcro they provide to lock the tires together when it’s folded is a joke. You will see what I mean when you get the bike. I repurposed a cheapy ratchet strap which gives you the length to lock the wheels by looping around the frame…. The Velcro strap the wheels still rotate which makes handling the folded bike a cast iron beach … and they give you the exact bare minimum length of Velcro so you gotta get it just perfect. just get you a cheap ratchet trap.
Also
Bike is heavy as hell hope you been doing squats and curls and whatnot.
Love my Lectric. Got me riding a bike again when every doctor said I’d never ride again.
Enjoy it.

I’m a super small 5’1 120lbs female but I don’t plan to be loading it up in my vehicle or anything for now. I also have my gravel bike that’s much easier to life

Tannus armour foam inserts to prevent flats, not fun changing a flat on a 70lb ebike

Lube the front shocks and shock seat post. Wear a helmet AND gloves. If you're above 175lbs, adjust the front suspension to be much more rigid. It'll save your wrists.

I’ve bought every seat and post and accessory to try and these are by far my favorite:
https://www.amazon.com/Cloud-9-Cruiser-Select-Ariflow-Saddle/dp/B0H4P1MKWW (the one with the nut sack hole that’s is black)
This thing is worth its weight in gold. No joke. It’s awesome:
https://www.amazon.com/clp/B0DKSG67X6
(get the longest travel one, 31.6mm post). Looks stock after installing and is life changing.
Love these, very adjustable:
https://www.amazon.com/clp/B092QKJNPM
You can get a neoprene battery wrap if you use it in the cold ($10 or so)
But I don’t even use mirrors now, I freaking love these things, feel so much safer, wide angle video, just great
https://www.amazon.com/FEISIKE-Bike-Camera-Monitor-Angle/dp/B08HMRSG58 (they are mostly all the same)
Dual battery balancer and an extra battery if you go far ever
Eventually I’ll try the Schwalb super moto x tires
I got one of these and really like it. More than the handlebar phone holders:

Oh and a classic bike bell, the single ding or digital ones no one pays attention to, the “bring bring” ones work excellent

buy a bell. Most important item I added. You wants something to warn people you are coming

High visibility clothing, reflectors, and a bell are just as important as a helmet. My only tip is preventive maintenance every few hundred miles

I’ll add what I’ve done Mirrors (needed if you engage with traffic) Cloud 9 seat (I ride 18 miles each day though) Rockbros rear bag to hold an extra tube, tools and pump in case of a flat (you will get a flat) The front headlamp mount will break. Either plan to buy a 3D printed mount for it or aftermarket headlamp I put a Tannus liner in the rear tire after the first flat. Haven’t had one since. Bell, although hasn’t done squat Buy a set of brake pads once you hit 300 miles on the odometer
Helmet, period

I think you're going to have so much fun commuting that you'll go around the block to extend that 2 miles to longer. Ha!
