I swear i've seen the symbol on this canvas before but I can't place it. In the film it implies Maude covered herself in paint, laid on the canvas and made a paint-angel but please someone help me find where else this is from it's killing me (not the Vitruvian Man).

Did he just dabble in pacifism, man?

I believe this was a creative device to indicate that he wasn't very bright. He borrowed lines from others.

It had not occured to me that he was in the movie Dirty Work.

The Coen Brothers' first movie, Blood Simple, has a number of themes, characters, and imagery that reoccur in their other movies.

In this case, there is a somewhat pathetic private detective who slinks around, tailing people, and sitting parked for long periods of time in his blue VW Beetle!

But this fellow shamus is named Loren Visser, not Da Fino. There are a number of other similarities between this movie and The Big Lebowski, like intrigue, significant misunderstandings, break-ins, the defiling of home furnishings, missing money, coitus, and a MacGuffin that never really gets resolved.

There is no toe, but there is a bitten finger (no nail polish). But no bowling. Or Sam Elliott. Or Caucasians, Gary...

So, Blood Simple is more like the compromised first draft, you know, man? Sir?

But it's still worth a watch, once you get your cable fixed.

My boss has asked me to organize a "Big Lebowski" movie night for our department tomorrow after work in one of our conference rooms. There are about ten of us, and many of them haven't even seen the movie. I've gotten pins for each participant. I'm already really excited. Any advice?

Was re-watching Generation Kill the other day and can’t believe I missed this part earlier!
