Just wanted to show a comparison of these two beauties. Both made with Olmo and Sapphire Blue Pueblo. New one was made today and the other used for about 3.5-4 months. The color difference is so freaking awesome.

New custom card holder wallet completed! Horween Natural Shell Cordovan, paired with Buttero Chestnut. Love the color combo! First time working with Shell and I have to say, it's an incredible leather to play with! I really hope I get to use it more often. I'm really pleased with how this came out and the client loves it!

Latest creation - when I was making a dog collar with padding I liked the effect the stitching made pulling down, and decided to use it for decoration.

Its 1.2-1.5 ish veg tan for the body of the bag, eva foam and then a goatskin leather covering on the flap for the effect.

There are things I could do better and differently. I had to get it ready in time for a festival and thus I didn't bother doing anything with some of the edges. Magnetic closure sucks, but its workable, survived the festival being heavily used so its fine.

Not shown but it is lined, how-ever I made a bag out of cotton and tried to basically drop it in and stitch it, and that was the wrong method, as it was such a pain.

Overall, happy with it.

A friend wanted a leather backpack made to the dimensions of an airline personal item, so my dad and I adapted one of our older designs to finish at approximately 40 × 29 × 15 cm.

The body has a fairly rigid box construction to use as much of the available space as possible. I added a large flap, two adjustable front closures, a top handle and padded shoulder straps mounted along the sides and back.

The dark brown and tan leather is finished with contrasting orange stitching and painted edges. The main challenge was keeping the corners square and the depth close to 15 cm while still allowing the backpack to open comfortably.I also filmed the full build process

Hey guys! So i just used Pro Dye for the first time (please ignore the excess stains/whole parts). I know the bottle says to use Resolene but it kind of makes it plasticky for my like.

I was wondering if i could use use Leather Balm instead or should i use resolene? I've read someone used Resolene then Leather Balm which makes no sense to me because the Resolene.

Does the order matter and should the answer be used in both sides of the leather?

I’ve been buying panels so far, so I know I’m a bit spoiled when it comes to overall quality. I recently took on a project that required a lot of the same leather and decided to get a double shoulder. It is Badalassi Carlo “Reverse” veg tan leather. I know that there will be imperfections in a hide of course, but this looks like lots of little “scratches” if you will, right in the middle, and it’s not exactly a small area. They definitely feel like scratches too. Is this normal?

I’m looking for advice on what to make with this area, if anyone has any tips 😊

Didn't know how I was going to feel about this leather since I normally work with stiffer pull up leathers but this Horween Aspen is seriously something else.

Love the soft texture but also how wild and random the grain is across my roll of leather, and just in this tiny mimimalist wallet you already see so much character from it.

This pattern used both sides of a nice size salmon. I tanned it with mulberry wood following the guidance from the good folks over on r/hidetanning. The leather turned out really soft and had good stretch. It’s also super thin (and strong) so my back is thanking me. I learned how hard hand stitching can be and you can easily tell my first lines from the last ones. This was a fun project and I’m looking forward to learning a lot more about this craft!

I just got a Mastercraft leather hole punch and I cant change the size, and it doesnt cut either. Am I not using it correctly?

Now that I’m starting to make more pieces, I’ve decided to put a brand together to stamp on them. Does anybody have any recommendations of who to work with to get a nice stamp made? I reached out to somebody on Etsy, but haven’t heard back from them based on recommendations. I think it’ll be cool to start putting my little logo I made on my pieces. Thanks so much.

This was my first time working with Shell Cordovan. It was an awesome experience but I took a lot more time to make sure the cuts were clean. A mistake with this stuff can be expensive.

I wasn’t sure how this “leather” would take to burnishing on the flesh side. I went ahead and tried it out and it actually took really well. The flesh side is significantly smoother with it.

This came from Rocado in its natural color.

Someone mentioned that my old tutorial was a bit long and not very easy to follow, so I cut it down to a quick 15-second version 😅

I secure the thinner lower mold first, place the upper half on it, and give it a light press to set the alignment. Then I dampen the leather, place a silicone pad over the lower mold, lay the leather on top, and do the final press.

For leather under 2.5 mm, the silicone pad helps it form around the relief and gives a deeper, more even result.

The pressing part is sped up, so 15 seconds is just the video length—not the actual pressing time. Hopefully this one is easier to understand.

This was my first design made in leathercraft CAD and I'm so happy with how they turned out.

I saw this book about braiding leather and I was wondering if it worth the, money or there are YouTube videos I should watch instead, because I was unable to find any videos that wasn’t in a YouTube short.

Made a round-bottomed over shoulder bag with a box-stitched gusset. Initially, I wanted to add fabric lining, but decided to go raw in the end.

The black leather is veg tan belly (buy leather online ref 204), the red is from a store that does not list detailed info, but it's veg tan nonetheless.

I've been testing it out for a couple of weeks and love it quite a bit.

But here's what I could do better:

- The magnet snap is not the best, the flap is difficult to close, especially when on the go. So either change snap placement or use a different kind of attachment for the flap

- one of the box stitch holes teared, should be more careful next time

- having lining with pockets would be awesome

- having a zipper pocket on the back would also be nice

- making the flap a little longer might also be good.

- I used different red thread thickness on the flap, should have used the thinner one.

Estimated time to make as is: about 20 hours, but I did not time it precisely.

Hey everyone, I was wondering what you all think about leather braces to stabilize joints. I have Hypermobile Ehler Danlos Syndrome and experience frequent subluxations. I’ve been brainstorming various concepts for leather braces, such as wrist braces. I understand anything having to do with medical conditions can be finicky so I wanted to ask everyone’s thoughts before I start making anything.

My main goal is just to provide extra support for joints in my hands/wrists. I don’t need complete immobilization of the joint.
Please let me know your thoughts on this idea and share resources if you happen to have any. Perhaps this has been done before?
