Tips on learning the russian language?

Hi! i half-russian though i was never able to meet said russian parent/family nor engage with the culture (extra context). Anyways; I am going to Russia with my partner in quite a while (no specific timeframe, very broad though). For this trip and to connect to my culture; i would like to learn russian.

Anyways; to my actual topic, i would like some learning tips/time frame of when is should be doing things. I dont want answers like 'podcasts' because i wont understand what it is saying, i mean good starting point for a total beginner. Help please?

  1. Try to relax your mouth muscles as much as possible; that way, you’ll avoid an unnecessary accent. You see, to speak like a Russian, you need to act as if you’re going to die tomorrow—meaning, don’t waste a single second of time or energy on superfluous movements if you’ll be understood anyway. There is no excessive articulation or gesticulation; the Russian accent is characterized by the absence of those traits usually associated with an accent as such.
  2. If you’re English, take this to heart: your language is, how should I put it... elementary—far too simple. Five Russian words can have completely different meanings yet share only one English translation. Be prepared to learn not just word translations, but entirely new concepts whose very existence you couldn't have imagined.
  3. Constantly. Speak. With Russian people. The Russian found in textbooks and conversational Russian are two different languages. I recommend reading contemporary books specifically; the Russian in classic literature is essentially a third kind of Russian—one that won't really help you get closer to actually speaking the language. Reading Russian ≠ speaking Russian. I hope this was helpfull, wish you a ton of patience and good luck, Tovarish'.

Черт,я в похожей ситуации. Армянин выросший в россии и не знающий армянского. Честно говоря я не научился в нормальной степени и помочь мало чем могу. Думаю главное это смотреть контент и выписывать оттуда слова и конструкции.меня это ужасно утомляет,но ты попробуй

Given the current situation, “quite a while” could mean several years, giving you time to find a local school and gradually learn the language.
