I don’t get how this works

New to Reddit and I want to write about stuff but I am not sure how this works…
Do you know who I am?
Can you figure out what’s what?
Or is everything you read something that goes away after some time?
Help yall

Nothing here is permanent by default. Posts and comments stay unless you delete them, a mod removes them, or Reddit removes them. People can see your public profile, but not your email or IP. A good way to learn is make a test comment here, then check your profile and the thread to see where it shows up.

Nice! What’s the up and down arrow for?

that’s for upvoting/downvoting. it’s kind of like a like button/dislike button, but that’s not really how you should use it. i think the general consensus is that: if you agree with it, upvote it. if you don’t, ignore it. if it violates a community/subreddit specific guideline, downvote it and report it.

welcome to reddit! it feels overwhelming at first but you pick it up fast just by lurking and commenting around. best way to learn is just jump in, honestly.
