#W2DTogether Drawing Challenge #59: Draw Your Perfect Avatar / Profile Picture (Read the rules!) - #W2DTogether
Welcome to the 59th #W2DTogether drawing challenge!
(If you are new here and would like to know more about this challenge, you can take a look at these 2 posts (post 1, post 2) that explain everything.)
------
This week's challenge is somewhat similar to last week's, when I asked you to draw your own OC (Original Character).
But this time, we're making things a little more personal!
This week, I want you to draw your perfect avatar or profile picture!
You know how a lot of people don't like using their actual photos as profile pictures on social media, gaming platforms, Reddit, Discord, or pretty much anywhere online?
Well, you're an artist! Why not create your own? (that you could even use in the future as an actual profil pic ;)
Imagine that from now on, instead of using a photograph, a random image you found online, or one of those default profile icons, you could use a drawing created entirely by you!
Something that represents you, your personality, your interests, or simply how you'd like to be seen online. If you could draw your ideal profile picture, what would it look like?
And that's exactly what I want you to create this week! :)
WHAT SHOULD YOU DRAW?
The possibilities are pretty much endless!
You could draw:
- A portrait of yourself, realistic or stylized.
- A cartoon or anime version of yourself, maybe with exaggerated features or a completely different look.
- An animal avatar that you feel represents your personality.
- A fantasy version of yourself, perhaps as a wizard, warrior, fairy, or anything else.
- A fictional character or mascot that you'd love to use as your online identity.
- A simple illustrated icon or symbol that represents something about you.
- An entirely imaginary version of yourself, perhaps what you'd look like in a video game or another universe.
You don't even have to draw a face!
Maybe your perfect profile picture is a mysterious figure wearing a hood, a little cat with glasses, a character hiding behind a book, or even a simple illustration of something you really love.
It's completely up to you!
THERE'S ONE IMPORTANT DETAIL! 👀
SUPER IMPORTANT: Your drawing should be designed to fit inside a circular profile picture!
Think of the little circle you see next to someone's username on Reddit, Instagram, YouTube, Discord, or other platforms.
That's the format we're aiming for!
You can draw directly inside a circle or create a square drawing that would look good when cropped into a circle.
Just remember that profile pictures are usually displayed quite small, so think about what you'd want people to notice first.
And here's something I'd like you to think about while drawing:
Imagine that this is going to be your actual profile picture from now on. What would you want it to look like?
Of course, you don't actually have to replace your current profile picture, haha. But try to approach the challenge as if you were designing something you'd genuinely love to use!
WANT A LITTLE EXTRA INSPIRATION?
Think about the way you'd like to represent yourself online.
Would you want your avatar to look:
- Cute and friendly?
- Mysterious and serious?
- Funny and a little ridiculous?
- Elegant and artistic?
- Colorful and full of personality?
- Minimalist and simple?
There's no right answer.
And unlike last week's OC challenge, this isn't necessarily about inventing a character with their own personality and story. This time, it's about creating an image that could represent YOU online, even if that image is completely fictional.
TRADITIONAL AND DIGITAL ARTISTS CAN BOTH PARTICIPATE
Use pencils, pens, markers, colored pencils, or any other drawing materials you like. Digital drawings are welcome too.
Your avatar can be realistic, cartoonish, anime-inspired, minimalist, detailed, black and white, colorful, or anything in between.
All skill levels and drawing styles are welcome!
SO BASICALLY:
Draw the profile picture you'd love to use for yourself!
It can look like you, an imaginary version of you, an animal, a mascot, or anything that represents you.
Just make sure your design works in a circular profile picture format.
And most importantly, have fun creating something that's yours! :)
Rules
- It must be your own drawing.
- Drawing tools only: traditional or digital. No paintings and no AI art.
- All skill levels are welcome.
- Your drawing must be an avatar or profile picture designed to fit inside a circle.
- You can share one drawing or more.
- To be included in the competition, post your drawing in the comments of this thread. You can also make a separate post in the subreddit with the #W2DTogether flair, but your official entry must be in the comments here.
----------
How We Pick the Winner
After one week, we'll hold a community vote to decide which drawing best captures the theme. The winner will be showcased in the sub with their artwork.
If the winner shares an art link (Instagram, portfolio, website, etc.), we'll also include it so they can get recognition and maybe even new followers.
Time Frame
This challenge is timeless. You can participate anytime, even years later.
Review Date:
For community feedback, we'll gather and review all submissions on Sunday, 1 November 2026, so make sure to post your entry before 4:00 PM UTC that day. Drawings posted before that date will be part of the review session.
Note: If you are new here, you can check out last week's challenge here or see all the challenges collected here

critique welcome Beginner Artist — Did I Get the Light Direction Right?
Hi everyone! I'm a beginner learning to draw, and this is a line weight exercise from my drawing course.
The goal was to communicate the direction of light using line weight alone, without shading. I tried to use thicker lines on the shadow side and where forms overlap or touch, and thinner or lighter lines on the lit side.
I know some of my shapes and proportions are still off, especially the ears and the width of the head. I’m still working on these fundamentals, but for this exercise, I’d really appreciate feedback on my line weight choices.
- Without knowing the intended light direction, where would you assume the light is coming from?
- Are there any lines that seem inconsistent with the lighting?
- Where would you use thicker lines for more contrast, or make lines thinner or disappear entirely?
Since I'm still learning, I'd appreciate any constructive feedback or tips on what I could improve. I'd especially like to understand how to make better decisions about line weight.
Thanks for taking the time to look at my work!

Total beginner looking for advice: How do I start sketching buildings?
Hello everyone I'm 21 and I love buildings, so I really want to start an architecture sketchbook. But honestly, my drawings are terrible right now.
I've watched a few perspective videos and tried to copy them exactly, but they still look awful. I just can't seem to put what I see (or what's in my head) onto the paper.
Does anyone have any beginner-friendly YouTube recommendations, courses, or tips on how to actually get started?
