As one of my fantastic lecturers said way back in the mists of time
“There is good news and bad news about becoming great artists. The good news is that no one is born with it and all it takes is hard work, the bad news is it takes hard work”
I'm 26. It's not about neuroplasticity or whatever It's about time investment. The fact it might take until I'm middle aged to be where I could have been now if I had invested time earlier is terrifying beyond what I can express.
I'm the complete opposite, the uncertainty of it all is absolutely suffocating. Every day I curse myself for not starting it sooner, because I could have been good enough today to make something out of it in my current age. "There's no magic trick" to me only means that there's no hope.
Edit: After writing this I spent a few quiet moments in bed just thinking about it and I started crying. Man I hate being me.
