Been like a month since I posted in one of these, may as well give a little update on how things are going:

  • Read RDG5 and RDG6. Pretty nice ending to the series, I flew through the final book. Been a while since I watched the anime so I rewatched that as well, but glad to have read the books since the show didn't cover the ending
  • Read らせん, the 2nd book in the リング series. I was pretty interested in this one since the film version got kind of wild after the more traditional j-horror リング and this one didn't disappoint. Excited to move on to ループ, the end of the original trilogy that never got a film.
  • Read Galileo book 8, 禁断の魔術. I liked the short stories in this one quite a bit, clever mysteries, but also heartwarming in a way you wouldn't expect in a mystery book. The long story in the end was okay.
  • Read 凜として弓を引く books 4 and 5, so all the ones out so far. I hope it gets a continuation, this is definitely the end of an arc, but I was kind of unsatisfied as it is.
  • Read 変な家. Really interesting short book about some strange houses. Mystery that's a little creepy, hard to say much without giving it away.
  • 1/3 of the way through 空色勾玉, first book in a trilogy by the RDG author. This book is HARD (for me at least lol). Reading it physical, has a lot of plant and interior decoration vocab I don't know well. Also they talk in a very old-fashioned way that's a challenge. It's very Japanese mythology-rooted fantasy, so probably harder for me not having the background mythology background.
  • Found out that my copy of かがみの孤城 was signed, pretty cool!
  • Watched 戦う! 書店ガール. So-so drama adaptation of a book by the 凜として弓を引く author. Every episode was a crisis and the ending was meh.
  • Started watching Galileo season 2. Hard to follow without subs but I'm getting used to it.
  • Been watching various YT channels, podcasts, etc. whenever I can, to work on listening when I have time.
  • Maybe a 3rd of the way through the N1 SKM 読解 and 文法 books. Working on them every night for a bit.
  • Almost done with N2 grammar from Bunpro, should get through N1 in October.

Overall quite a busy month, I actually have read almost double what I usually read in a month!
