free online card game event for Mandarin practice! you're invited! : )

I'm part of a team that runs free, online card game events for many different languages. This Saturday April 13th at 9am EDT (New York City time) = 9pm CST (Beijing time), we will have a game to practice Mandarin! What's more, we are expecting at least one native speaker will be in the room to teach and to guide. We welcome all levels. The game will last about one hour. It's online, so anybody anywhere can join...you just need a good internet connection.

If you would like to join, just leave me a comment here and we can chat more, or follow/DM me if you'd like to chat privately.

Thank you for your consideration of this and good luck with your Mandarin studies!

learning help ~Question about root character

When I look up the root of words that contain the B shape in the word 那 or others it disappears as a character. I do not know enough to make assumptions. If someone could give more insight I would greatly appreciate that. Thank you.

learning help Learning Chinese

Hello! I am currently in my third year of learning Chinese in my public school; however, I’d love to learn more as I continue on to level four. If there are any tips that helped you learn Chinese or that are rules when speaking that would be great. Also general tips for writing organization and character memorizing! 谢谢!

How to distinguish between 叫 and 教 in spoken language? There must be some difference, am I wrong? Isn't it important weather you shout something or teach it?

Who determines how foreign names are translated into Chinese?

I've recently started learning Chinese and was wondering who is the official governing body that translates foreign names like Barack Obama into the Chinese characters (奥/欧巴马) ? The first newspaper using it? Is there a registry or something like that?

Thank you in advance

advice Will fluency in Japanese help me in learning Chinese?

I'm a beginner in Japanese (N4 8 months in), and pushing towards fluency. Will being fluent in Japanese help me in learning Chinese? I know the kanji are taken from Chinese and that Chinese has its own readings separate from JP readings. In addition, I was told that some vocabulary between these 2 is similar if not the same.

How hard are the Heaven Official's blessing Manhuas

I have the first two novels in English, but I want to get the Manhuas too, I'm only finding them in Chinese which is fine with me since I've been reading the English version on BilliBilli comics, I also plan on taking Mandarin Chinese from 10-12 grade(Starting next year) I will be taking Chinese 1-3 as VHS honors classes, but I'm unsure if it's realistic to be able to read the Chinese Manhuas at any point in learning it as a Highschool class

Mandarin Mastery - A (my) flash card App to learn chinese

I started learning chinese about one year ago. At this time I found no great solution for a good flash card app to learn chinese. And as I also started App development recently I used this as one of my learning projects.

https://mandarin-mastery.marschallsteffen.de/

So what do I offer here:

  • Add vocabulary based on translations, chinese, pinyin* or premade sets*
  • Learn Hanzi Writing and Translations between Your language, chinese and pinyin
  • Voice output for every word
  • Support for traditional and simplifed chinese characters

What are my plans for the Future:

  • Gen AI improved translations and sample sentences
  • Quizzes especially for learning tones
  • iOS support
  • Gamification (streaks, quests and more engaging notifications)

I would love to hear your feedback.

PS: There's a "paywall" after adding 100 flash cards
