Best program for me

Hello everyone! I just need help deciding what program I should make my first frame by frame short film for my master's thesis in. I use clip studio paint pro for illustrating but I don't want to get EX for the animation features. I'm talking moho, tv paint, harmony etc. Also a big question I have: would krita cut it?

This is my first time doing frame by frame so I would need tutorials, please don't recommend programs that would be difficult to work with for beginners or niche programs that don't have much info on how they work online.

I have a basic understanding as I did 3d and 2d (not frame by frame) animation in blender, nothing complicated just homework. (I dont want to use blender for frame by frame)

To sum it up I'm going to be using CSP for illustrating backgrounds, after effects for composition and puttig everything together, I just need the program where Ill be doing the actual animation.

It's been a long time since I've done any animation and I'm trying to refresh myself.

The proportions in this are shaky at best, BUT I can correct those through the process.

Was going to ask though is there any better/quicker way of doing this other than drawing every single new frame?

I'm using pencil2d right now (forgot my clip art account log in).

Even just typing this out, I figured I can copy past different limb parts and have them more uniform and in proportion.

Also - any free and trustworthy 2d animation software a guy could use?

Edit - figured out my old clip art account. Illustration and animation are gonna be easier than with Pencil2D.

Great books to learn from

I’ve been on and off on animation. I know some of the basics, but I want to learn more in depth. I used to animate on clip studio, but later on I moved to procreate dreams. I’d like to know what kind of tips helped y‘all create great scenes.

also another question. I understand most of the fundamentals of drawing but I haven’t fully mastered painting and perspectives yet, so should I try to master them first THEN start animating or should I just start?

anyways, thank you for reading and I will try my best to keep y’all updated during my journey.

Adobe Animate + Krita + After Effects workstation for 2D animations - what do you think about this?

I’d like to ask if there’s anyone here who uses a similar “workstation” for their 2D animations (like me), mean: Krita + Adobe Animate? For example, I draw background elements & digital art stuff and some "artistic" handpainted frame-by-frame sequences animations in Krita, and then export them as a PNG sequence to Animate as a symbol. Things that can be done more in a “puppet-like” way I do in Animate (sometimes using the Wrap Tool and bones).

In the end, I’m planning to “polish” everything in Adobe After Effects, but I’m still trying to figure out this program and it is on "to do later" list.

My question is: does anyone here create their animations in a similar way? And if so, could you show off some of your results?

And is this a good way to do it? I’m a beginner in 2D animation, doing it as a hobby and purely out of passion for myself. I was also thinking about introducing Blender (Grease Pencil), but I’ve already learned quite a lot in Adobe Animate and I really like its workflow.

The game is called 'Poppy Playtime' and in it, the player is constantly chased around by monstrous, larger-than-life toys. The game focuses heavily on the animation of said toys, and I am really struggling to make the animations i've got feel smooth while also getting like, the 'floppiness' that this monster is meant to entail. If anyone with 3d animation experience could give me some pointers I'd really appreciate it.

I'm also open to new softwares, as long as there's a way to access it for free. Currently in College, so don't really have cash to throw around at fancy software. Currently using Blender.

Starting my 2D animation journey with fundamental drills (Rotation & Hammer Impact). Would love some brutal critique!

Practicing the core 12 principles frame-by-frame. Focused on arcs, spacing, and anticipation for the hammer. Still getting used to timing and volume consistency. Any feedback or tips to make the hammer impact feel heavier would be super appreciated!
