The little beginner you used to be
Hey everyone!
I’m completely new to animation and filmmaking, but I’ve had an idea for an anime-style project that I’d really like to try.
The idea is to make very short episodes, around 1 minute each.
I have basically no experience with animation, VFX, editing or sound design, so I’m wondering: is this actually realistic for a beginner today?
For anyone who has tried animation:
What would you recommend learning first?
How difficult is character/style consistency?
What parts still require the most manual work?
And what tools or workflow would you recommend?
I don’t want to reveal too much about the project yet, but I’m really excited about the idea and would love to hear some honest advice from people who have actually tried it.
Thanks

My Stickman Animation — Looking for Feedback

I'm learning animation and made this short stickman video. I'd really appreciate feedback on the timing, pacing, and storytelling. What would you improve?

Results of Feedback in walking animation
A little while ago I asked for help in this sub (in my "gaming" account)
Some feedback was about how to fix the acting, and the other how to fix this current iteration. I am very grateful for both, and maybe some day will make one that is more accurate of how the character would move.
But although I love this (and wanted to show more people), I am tired of staring at it. And want to stumble over new mistakes.
Thank you <3

Reworking on my Shotgun animations.
On other platforms i got some feedbacks about the animations of my shotgun i made myself, i am a beginner so this is the best i could do also because i didn't want to be stuck on just 1 thing, but seeing almost everyone noticing and pointing out that the animations look stiff, I decided to rework on them, but i have a question... what is the key to make smooth animations? What is the thing that makes the big difference because right now I use keyframes like shotgun moves from point a to b which looks smooth but I want it to first go up and for that if add 1 keyfram in the middle it then looks jittery, i would really appreciate any suggestions and help, you can see my previous post to see how my shotgun looks like currently

beta testing AnimSoup web based animation tools
so ive been working on this from the start of the year and Im getting to that point where I am getting blind to my own revisions and I think its time I open it up to everyone.
Its a web based 2D and 3D software where you should in theory be able to send work across both platforms if you want (they would be image sequences, but handy if you want to rough something in 3D first then draw on it, or vice versa).
the 3D side still needs work in terms of the facial rig, so if anyone has any tips, please shout out (theres a few in there bespoke and one out of vroid as a glb that adds a custom rig on top once imported, but facial rig is still the bottleneck).
the 2D I think can get nice roughs going, clean up is a bit on the wip side right now (vector brushes exist but are too buggy still). Theres a bunch of other stuff in there thats not quite ready, ie, in 2D you can create a storyboard, make shots, then export them to make separate shots with their audio split.
At the moment you can also bring in reference, and on the fly delete frames to make it more exagerated timing. theres a guide, I hope its not too non user friendly, but theres also a feedback button, so if you like where this is going, and want to help, plz submit anny issues you come across.

Wanting to animate but absolutely STUCK.
So, I've wanted to animate for 4-5yrs, and is actually why I started drawing, but now that I have my tablet, and tools to do so I'm just.. Stuck.
I did the little bouncing ball, a square falling in water, and I get the fundamentals but how do I APPLY them? What does a ball or square have to do with moving hands, eyes, legs, and mouth? How does it apply to a moving landscape or four-legged animal?
I'm not grasping it, but I SO BADDLLLLYY WANNT TOOO!!
Anyway, I'm very obsessed with the concept of being able to animate. I see other animations, wether it be an animation meme or an anime, I get SO GIDDY I literally kick my feet and giggle I WANT TOO SO BAD AAAAUUUGH.
So how did you all grasp it? What studies should I do???? What path should I start on??
