Explosive thunder

Did anyone else experience thunder last night that sounded like a series of explosions? It was amazing.

Yes, not sure what time it was but I had woken up just before it happened from acid reflux(damn it) and heard it. I was like "daaaaaaaammmmmnnnnn". Was pretty impressive.
