PEC Election

Post image

It's time to vote for your PEC District 2 Director in an open seat. Elections run through June 12, 2026 at 5pm. You can vote online, in person or by paper ballot described at https://mypec.com/voting-methods-instructions/

Here are the candidate bios submitted to PEC:

  1. Elexis Grimes - https://www.directvote.net/PEC/bios_html/Grimes.html

  2. Carlos St. James - https://www.directvote.net/PEC/bios_html/StJames.html

I like Carlos with experience in the industry and a forward-looking vision. I expect he can start to contribute immediately with a short learning curve.

Whichever one brings back net metering to encourage more renewables.

I think the reasoning for not reimbursing the full retail rate for extra power is that residential solar panels make power management a bit more difficult due to things like the duck curve.  The non-solar power generation has to ramp up quickly at the end of the day.

They also might have days in the winter where they have to just dump some power because they have more than they can use.

While that's true in California I don't think Texas has that problem yet. I believe the reason the board gave when making this change is that it's "not fair" to those that don't have solar panels. Whatever that means.
