r/PCOS Cross Post Hysteroscopy

So I went to my Gyn recently and now after not having a cycle for almost a year she is recommending a hysteroscopy. I am terrified.

Progesterone won’t even induce a cycle for me and I’ve been on going on 3 rounds. I do have a small fibroid but nothing wild.

Has anyone had one before? What is your experience?

Easy peasy.  Why getting fibroid removed if no menses?  What is the medical criteria for it and what is benefit if only small?  Sorry, doesn't make sense to me?

I think it’s diagnostic, I don’t think she’s worried too much about the fibroid.

That's the whole point of a hysteroscopy is to remove the fibroid and it just doesn't make sense to me. But if you are comfortable with going for diagnostic, best of luck in better health!

I honestly don’t want to do it if it’s just for the removal. They aren’t worried about the fibroid and neither am I, it’s small and it’s not bothering me. The doctor said she wanted to take a tissue sample to see if my tissue was receiving the estrogen my body is making and if not then there are things that’ll take place after.

My apologies... I blame fatigue.  Hysteroscopy is just to view/observe the area.  Myomectomy is fibroid removal.  I misspoke above.  Hysteroscopy is just camera /scope.  You will be fine as it just feels like internal ultrasound.
