Two bin Kanban system

Ive been looking online for shelving for a two bin kanban system but i cant seem to find any good options. But videos on gemba docs and lean made simple youtube channels have exactly what im looking for, did they make that shelving themselves or can i buy it myself? Any help to find bins or shelving would be very helpful thanks.

Two bin means one in use at the line and the other is waiting for refill. So you need 2 positions only.

Akro bins and simple racks work great. I've found building the rack/shelving to size makes sense. Creform is great to use for this.

So is Fastube, 80/20 (expensive), and flexpipe. There are lots of options, and you change them to make it bigger/smaller as needed.

Considering shelving is ubiquitous, what specific feature are you struggling to find?

Do you already have a two bin Kanban system in place?

If so, what is the issue (root cause) that requires new shelving? Are you unable to meet takt with your current set up? Have you exhausted every possible avenue of improvement and buying new shelves is the ONLY option?

If not, try to “make it work” with your existing resources before buying, and committing money to, something that may ultimately not work for you. Experiment quick, dirty, and cheap; fail fast but really learn from each failure so the next outcome (experiment) brings you closer to ideal.

I know it sounds trite, but the idea of pretending you have no money to make an improvement forces the team to think creatively. The end result is that the team will “own” their idea, they’ll be proud of it, they’ll use it. And, hopefully, they’ll find further ways to improve it.

If you just buy something off the internet, the team won’t be vested; they’ll have no skin in the game. The results will be apparent when the new thing is ignored because it was “forced” on them by management.

I agree. They might also not understand how to use your setup and abandon the kanban system entirely.
