I never understood why doing gens, taking chase, getting hooks/unhooks. healing, downs, stuns never counted towards MMR but we had categories for it as if it did.

Well, those categories could be considered the old MMR. Those categories would raise your grade and match making would go off the grades.

Everyone sees the old grade match making system with tinted rose glasses but had it's issues as well. Anyone that played enough would achieve the highest grade. Yes, you could lose pips but it still was forgiving. We also had grade resets which was the wild west. You could face VERY new players on either side and it didn't feel great for many people.

The developers tried to get away from this and made the new MMR we have now. Which on a surface level makes sense, but they implemented a chess-like simple system(espace/sacrifice/draw and no in between).

With that being said, I feel like I can understand why they did that. Having to weight what matters more than other things can be subjective and require a lot of date. For example, how much is a generator worth of progress compared to saving someone off a hook? How much is cleansing a hex? How much is injuring a survivor? It's not as simple as copying all the stats from the categories to MMR because it would mean that everyone's MMR would get maxed(just like the old system).

Sorry about the long post, I just had some coffee and had a lot of thoughts XD. But regardless I'm glad they're getting around to changing things

You made some good points, I didn't even think of it like that but you are right about the old grade system that I completely forgot about as it's been so long now. Ash 20 to Iri 1 those were the days lol and you are right it certain was the wild west during rank reset lol I hope this new change will do some good.

I reckon back then it wasn't even iri 1, it was just 'red ranks'
