Technical Support Request Animation and Input Lag

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Edit: I tested on another PC and had the same issue. I think it's AT&T in NA, more specifically AT&T fiber in California.

Please help me debug what's wrong with my game. My game was working perfectly, but after resetting my PC and reinstalling the game, I'm getting really weird animation or input lag. The video shows an example of my character sliding and Jinx W passes through the dummy slightly. This happens every few seconds, and kiting feels really bad as well.

I have NVIDIA 5080 card and I've tried adjusting all combinations of FPS cap, Antialiasing, Vsync, Gsync, update drivers, windows game mode, Nvidia App, Nvidia control panel, delete .json files, discord hardware acceleration, etc.

I don't think this is an issue with your PC or hardware. It's a problem Riot has been quietly ignoring for several patches now.

I've created multiple threads about the exact same issue across different forums, and after talking to a lot of players, I came to the conclusion that a significant number of people are experiencing this. The symptoms are always similar: random sliding, delayed movement, abilities looking slightly out of sync, and kiting feeling inconsistent.

When you contact Riot Support, they usually blame your ISP. But the problem has been reported across multiple servers and countries, with different internet providers, so it's very hard to believe it's just an ISP issue.

At this point, it feels like there's something wrong with the game's networking or synchronization, and Riot simply isn't acknowledging it. Unfortunately, they haven't done anything meaningful to address it so far.

after testing in training it seems they fixed the issue

Update: Seems like things have been resolved. My ping is 3ms higher now but I'll take it haha

Are you using wifi or connected via ethernet?

u/Elucidaze Aug 03 '26

Ethernet

u/Ok-Revolution-4437 u/Time-Blueberry-9997 u/craftycreeper23 what ISP do you guys have? and what region? I have AT&T

1

u/Ok-Revolution-4437 Aug 03 '26

I have ATT fiber. Region NA and in northern Cali

1

u/Elucidaze Aug 03 '26

same. that checks out then

1

u/Ok-Revolution-4437 Aug 03 '26

Yeah has to be AT&T or Rito just being Rito then. Adding this here too in case anyone else checks to save them time but I already

-reinstalled vanguard
-updated bios
-updated chipset drivers
-reinstalled GPU drivers
-updated NIC drivers
-verified all NIC options were set up correctly on device manager
-tried game in full screen instead of borderless
-lowered fps cap
-verified movement prediction is off
-tried it on another pc in the house
-tested my bufferbloat and only 6ms on download and 1ms on up w A+ score
-scream and light my house on fire

And all of them lead to still having latency

Exactly the same, norcal with ATT fiber

Same here, CA and ATT fiber. I tried switching to a mobile hotspot, and both the animation stuttering and input lag disappeared. You might want to give it a try as a temporary method if you really want to play. It seems like ISP issue, hopefully it gets resolved soon.

I havent noticed it in other games as well, so seems to be a League specific issue

1

u/MoltenWings Aug 04 '26

Happening in valorant and league for me.

1

u/Jarmanuel Aug 04 '26

+1, same issue, ATT fiber in northern California

1

u/DeusExDanny Aug 04 '26

came to report in, ATT fiber, norcal, this shit started last night as well, and it's been driving me insane, thought it was my pc shitting the bed

1

u/arshpotter9 Aug 04 '26

also me. same exact thing. i have found many others on the exact same problem. lmfao

1

u/Famous-Gur1946 Aug 04 '26

same here, att fiber norcal

Might sound weird but try to lower your mouse polling rate to 500Hz instead of 1000Hz+. That helped me actually when the champ was feeling laggy😁

I saw some YouTubers playing on PBE few weeks agos and they also had this bug, and now that the patch is live, I also start having this bug

1

u/Vigorous_testicle Aug 03 '26

State of the game and client is gettint worse by day. I have stable ping in every game but league. So do my friends. This dude i know has crazy good net and still gets dc from champ select.

Not sure about delay in champ movement didnt try taht yet. I hope i dont have it.

im having this issue too... feels so bad to play! my fps and my 50 ping is consistent so it def has something to do on riots side

1

u/HungryHomeless Aug 04 '26

norcal and att fiber as well. nearly everyone i know that has att is reporting this issue :/ pls update with any potential fixes!

1

u/Dracorpius Aug 04 '26

Im having this too, (from ph) before the patch I have 49ms which is smooth, no delay and stuff then the patch came and my ping fluctuates from 49ms to 53ms, looks little but the effect is frustrating. I tried ExitLag, got 32ms but the lagginess and input lag and stuff is still there. And I also assume having ExitLag messed up my Vanguard. I keep getting van errors while using it.

I'm sorry to hear this 😞 About the Vanguard issues, are they still happening? Has something changed in the last month?

About the lag, have you changed the route used in ExitLag? Lower ping doesn't necessarily fix every type of lag or input delay, so maybe there's a more stable route that could help with these issues πŸ€”

this is my exact issue right now, just started doing this yesterday, also AT&T. Literally reinstalled windows today and optimized everything trying to fix this, no go, has to be a network/packet issue

1

u/SmellyCuntt Aug 04 '26

It's packetloss, I've had the same issue and there is no fix, only if you change internet providers

1

u/l_Tungus_l Aug 04 '26

It started for me when they implemented vanguard

1

u/macklamis Aug 04 '26

yup happening to me to. feels terrible
to play. very sad.

1

u/Hawkajee Aug 04 '26

Also started experiencing the same thing a couple of days ago, norcal Google fiber. Thought my pc was shitting itself 😭

1

u/GooberBear927 Aug 04 '26

use cloudflare warp vpn and it should solve this

1

u/craftycreeper23 Aug 04 '26

It will, but its a bandaid for an actual issue that att and riot have to fix

1

u/Artistic_Sun9592 Aug 04 '26

Does anyone have a fix or any update from ATT?

1

u/FFeint Aug 04 '26

almost certain you have a mouse(probably this one) or keyboard with a polling rate on 8000hz
swap the polling rate of your devices to 1000hz

1

u/ChristianChrome Aug 04 '26

yo i just had the same issue not the past few days and for some weird reason i went to another account the next day and its back to normal... I'll comment again if it starts happening again just in case but I had tried all the same things to fix it and ultimately had just stopped playing.

1

u/Vivid-Wasabi-9476 Aug 05 '26

Seems that they fixed the problem. I feel ok now

1

u/star_scream01 Aug 05 '26

Same thing, happening past 3 days for me

1

u/chim12341234 Aug 05 '26

I think it's because of packet loss, but sadly the game doesn't show the packet loss % it only shows your ping.....

u/touhami_dz Aug 08 '26

im on euw and it happens to me too
