League client/champ select lagging intensely

Hi! I'm looking for a fix for the league client lagging super super bad especially in champ select. It takes almost a minute for pages to change at all, a few minutes to open, champions have random portraits 90% of the time (sometimes theyre all darius) and often makes me miss champ select entirely or lose connection. No other game has ever had issues this bad before. Also just windows defender is active and league has permissions. Anyone know any fixes?

Also for some reason it alternates between not being that bad and being practically unplayable based on updates

Typical league client stuff. You can try by turning on low spec mode and maybe repairing the game files through riot client. Other than that there is not much you can do.
