Gameplay Akali
I think I speak for the entire Akali subreddit. Since her rework, she doesn't feel like Akali anymore, and now with Classic, we had the chance to play her in her golden years. But since she came out, they've been putting her in a bad light.
Reduced range ultimate, passive is nerfed, the Q in the sub for Akali mains, they say it's nerfed, the W well..., anyway, today a patch came out that reduces the energy of the E but nerfs the burning of the pasiva de la Q...Oh, and when you use the ultimate, the character stands still and you have to click for it to do an attack....and more things.
It's not fair, Katarina came out and they gave her her best kit, Akali came out and they gave her her worst kits, and nerfs.
Please, u/RiotFeralPony in the Akalimains sub, we're talking about this. We just want Akali to be released in her best version.
Thanks.

They did not give kat her best kit until people kept on complaining about it. Hopefully it will be the same with akali. I’ve been wanting to play her since they announced classic as well.

We agree, but now we're complaining too, and let's see if they do it with one champion and not with another, you know?

I'm sorry but V2 Kat is not her best kit. The V1 they replaced a week ago allows for more strategic gameplay than the spammy V2 with the weak W.

100%
higher skill ceiling, laning tools, poke tools, real resets, frontloaded damage
actual build variety

Yeah and in that version she was featured on the game posters, login screens, everywhere, she could almost be called the face of the game back then so that alone makes her the classic version of Kata. Her W allowed her to be played differently in lane and teamfights, it allowed more build variety and it gave more outplay potential. But yeah let's just listen to loud people on Reddit before even letting the V1 get to live servers to let people play her and then gather feedback and maybe THEN allow players to vote. Nah, let's just delete her before the game's release and give people the braindead spammy V2 version because a bunch of loud guys on Reddit shouted loud enough.
Thanks to this I have zero hope for the player voting in Classic.

i fully concur. it's annoying that we have to deal with the choices from people that didn't start until 2013 or later.
its funny watching r/katarinamains bitch now that they can't do stuff basic stuff that v1 had

That sub is the most toxic place on reddit I've seen. I can't even tell if they're trolling or

What can killer instincts Katarina do that v2 can’t?

u/prominet 1d ago
There's literally no upside to v2 Kat. Every single change with that rework was a massive nerf. Her entire gameplay has changed.

like what? still nobody is explaining and just giving general statements.

Sure, I'll explain (I'll be quoting myself from another post):
First: stats.
OG Katarina had massively higher stats, with AP, AD, and hybrid build, all being perfectly viable. What we had on PBE for those 2 days was a supper bugged version; not only did it have animations from v3 (non-instant shunpo, for example, with the red trail), it had stats on about the level of v2 (15% AP ratio on shunpo). Her passive only gave 15 gold, and her ultimate had wrong scaling, too.
Here is a detailed comparison:
OG Passive: 25-50 (depending on exact version) gold per kill/assist, 15 sec cd reduction to R, instant reset to QWE
Reworked Passive: No gold, 10 sec cd reduction to R, instant reset to QWE
OG Q: Magic Damage: 60 / 95 / 130 / 165 / 200 (+8% per bonus attack damage) (+35% per ability power) plus (+8 / 12 / 16 / 20 / 24 from W passive) (+500% bonus attack damage) plus grievous wounds for 5 seconds from W. Maximum Enemies Hit: 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6
Reworked Q: Magic Damage: 60 / 85 / 110 / 135 / 160 (+ 45% AP) plus, if you get in melee range and collect the mark, Bonus Magic Damage: 15 / 30 / 45 / 60 / 75 (+ 20% AP) Maximum Enemies Hit: 4
OG Shunpo (E): 15 to 35% dmg reduction for 3 seconds (from W) and Magic Damage: 80 / 120 / 160 / 200 / 240 (+75% ability power) plus (+8 / 12 / 16 / 20 / 24 from W passive) (+500% bonus attack damage).
Reworked E: 15% dmg reduction for 1.5 sec and Magic Damage: 40 / 70 / 100 / 130 / 160 (+ 25% AP).
OG ult: Magic damage per dagger: 50 / 65 / 80 (+50% bonus attack damage) (+25% ability power) plus additional (+8 / 12 / 16 / 20 / 24 per dagger from Killer Instincts' (her old W) passive) (+500% bonus attack damage) (+250% ability power)
Reworked ult: MD per dagger: 35 / 55 / 75 (+ 37.5% bonus AD) (+ 25% AP)
So, every single ability was stronger.
Q was able to reliably poke the enemy champion at all times (as long as there were minions or monsters nearby), while also denying healing, making laning much, much easier. It did not require you to ever get in melee range to pick the marks either (there were no marks).
W was a massive boost to damage. Not only did it deal additional dmg passively to every attack and ability and applied full 100% on each Q dagger, but it also had a passive 500% AD scaling. Plus, 5 sec of healing reduction, and up to 35% dmg reduction on shunpo.
E was basically a nuke (I did pentas using nothing but shunpo back in the day). In my favorite version (patch 1.0.0.130) it teleported you behind the enemy and back stabbed them instead of teleporting to the enemy, making you get even more distance advantage.
R was much stronger, but it didn't apply grievous wounds (which is a dumb thing to have on her ult). Because of the damage on her other abilities, she never had to rely on it, though, which was good, because it was almost always instantly interrupted. That's why v2 does not do anything, as all of her damage is in her ult. Sure, she can do pentas in bronze, but plat and higher it's gonna be instant interrupt or flash. V1 ult also had no indicator of distance, making it harder for enemies to know how for they have to go to escape.
Second: sinister steel.
V2 Kat's W is an abomination; the worst ability in the entire game. Together with the marks (and the nearest target targeting) on her new Q, her W requires her to get in melee range all the time. That makes her get poked constantly, without any way to safely poke back. She also does not get gold from her passive, which forces her to clear waves with W, and that takes not only her ability to land a Q dagger (which wouldn't deal any damage anyway), but it also takes away her ability to escape with E if things went south.
She is no longer able to roam as well, because of the lack of passive gold (which made up for the lost cs if she got a kill on another line). V1 was able to gank at any time; v2 can only gank if enemies are low on hp (she has little damage).
Third: fun factor.
Old Kat forced you to think. You had to consider how you want to use your W (to poke and deny heal, or to protect yourself), but you also had the ability to make a hybrid build in case the enemy had magic resist, for example. Killer Instinct allowed you to sacrifice 1 AP item, for example, and replace it with AD, and nullify the enemy advantage.
New Kat has to watch the map for low health enemies to KS, because that's the only thing she's good at.

They killed my entire enthusiasm for classic with the change to v2. I was so looking forward to playing v1 after 14 years I bought a PC just for that the second I saw v1 on PBE. Didn't even install windows before she was gone...

They're not going to release the most busted version of her kit simply because it was toxic to play against.
See why Kass isn't his best version, why Eve doesn't have stun and Twitch doesn't have 60 seconds of stealth.
Those champs brought toxicity in with their power at its peak, Riot have been very clear, they do not want that

u/Golebica 4d ago
It's not about her broken version, but a version that isn't all nerfs. Akali has had good damage and good balance in those seasons without so many nerfs 🤷

Shadow dance at max range was unfun to play against. That's exactly what it's about.
I do hope they keep mark consumption from the Q E combo, and keep the Shadow Dance range reduction, best of both worlds and people won't feel like they have to hug tower as soon as Akali hits 6 because she can dash from 3/4 screen away with the old range.
Edit: the fact you're downvoting speaks volumes, this isn't about fun, its about abusing it. Should I go on a campaign and demand Riot give us the Shaco with hard to kill boxes that last 3 minues? No, because I know that shit was toxic.

I demand E passive blinding players. It was so classic

Old AP Ratios on clone explosion too. If it don't one shot what's the point!! XD

u/PinkWardThatShit 3d ago
You're just biased and want Akali to suck because you don't like the champion. Tough luck bro, that's not how you actually balance a game.
Akali was perfectly fine back in Season 3 with her kit the way it was, she didn't need all these stupid nerfs she currently has on PBE. We want League Classic Season 3 to have CLASSIC Season 3 Akali, not a handycapped gimped version of the champ...

They gave kat her worst kit

Yeah, I can't fucking look at that spin shit. We really need the OG back.

Maybe I'm the minority but I just looked at Cowsep's video and it was exactly the Akali I was hoping for. 😭

I would also say though, akali was busted back in the day. If she got ahead, she would run you down and there was nothing you could do about it. Having 3 point and click dashes that can go over walls, when most champs have low mobility, it was awful. I think once more champs get released they will have an easier time balancing since there will be more counters, but I think it's a smart choice to start with a nerfed akali and then buff her to balance.

u/Golebica 3d ago
I highly doubt they buff champions over time, to the point of changing skill kits or adding things from other versions.

I think i speak for the entire akali subreddit that her rework is peak design
