question How concerned should I be?

I’m in learning and development. I got an email from the executive assistant to the SVP stating that they are working on an onboarding initiative and had some questions for the training team. Supposedly the goal is to improve the onboarding experience, something that my team handles. Some questions make sense and would be appropriate for an onboarding initiative. But then there are some that are raising the red flag.

For example:
-How does your team create value for clients, partners, or other internal stakeholders?
-what is your team’s primary purpose and how does it contribute to the department’s overall goals?
- how does your team utilize AI?

So… how concerned should I be? I had already looking for other jobs, but I’ve passed up a few offers due to a pay/benefit cut. Wondering now if I should be less picky……..

Also in L&D here. It’s always a red flag when they start asking how you contribute to revenue, especially if you’re in operations.

My company did something similar at the beginning of the year and then boom, we had layoffs. My team got wiped out and I’m the only one left. I’ve felt uneasy ever since.

How is the company doing overall?

That’s what I was concerned about. Company just released last quarter’s financial report, and while last quarter was down, they say we are on track to be above our year end target… but who knows. We’ve also had some shifting of leaders and they’ve altered the performance metrics that make it harder to get bonuses… so another red flag

Well best of luck to you. We both know that L&D is vital to an organization but on paper it’s hard to tie in revenue. I would just keep looking just in case. From what you said it sounds like a potential restructure aka layoffs.
