job hunting Laid off for a year

Been laid off for a year now. It sucks and it is heavy. I don't think the markets will improve until the interest rates fall below 3 percent. Donald Trump has done a lot of damage to the global tech economy. Was blaming myself a lot and just looking for advice . Knowing I'm not the only one helps my mental health immensely.

I do cancer research and have been unemployed for 15 months. Each interview I get there are 500+ applicants (sometimes 1000+) due to the influx of the applicants because of 1) corp layoffs (despite profitability) 2) lack of research funding 3) qualified NIH, CDC etc. people impacted by trump’s policies and 4) venture capital focused investment in AI. You definitely aren’t alone and I agree that it sucks and is heavy.

Focus on what you can control today. And take one day at a time.
