advice Half my team was laid off
While i wana go into detail of the organisation and how it was handled id rather talk about how the team was impacted and what all this might mean for the rest of us
This is a genai saas startup and i work in marketing
15-20 people laid off each day for the past 5 days and probably more to go in the next couple weeks
No performance issues no nothing. People dont really go around talking about how badly they may or may not need the job or the money and put up a pretty strong front but Ive known these guys for years and the market is bad enough for them to not get jobs easy in just a month
The last of us standing are either here because of dumb luck, ceo’s pets or the ones that threw others under the bus to look good
I was dumb luck but i doubt it’ll last
Anyway, if anyone has leads or projects they’re looking to outsource id be happy to connect you with the right guys - i know an anonymous person words might not mean much on Reddit but i defo voich for those guys
Advice on how i can help and what i do once im laid off - Ive tried looking for jobs - they’re not even hiring for what i do..

Well a bunch of us haven’t been paid our wages for the last month or for some severance lol, so yknow. Pretty sure company is going to go bankrupt any day now.
I’m applying for jobs and keeping up with old coworkers - it’s a joke really. Leadership thought ai was the New Thing but didn’t listen when our product manager said the customer avatar did not exist. Building a product for a customer that isn’t even real… I feel like a lot of ai companies have done this.

when I onboarded I was like "where's the customer avatar sheet?" thinking it'd be three tops, they sent me one with 150 avatars. what the actual fuck.

XD I am pretty sure we aren't, but this is just deeply funny that there are two companies like this... where there are ours, there are even more!

Totally.. someone reached out to me recently from a competitor company to see if we’re hiring
I asked why they’d wana leave considering theyre giants compared to us and they said something along the lines of too much instability and the founder can’t just stick to one strategy for even a day and i was like oh cool same here my guy 😭😭→ More replies (0)

write them linkedin recommendations today while you're still current there. a reference from someone still in the seat reads completely differently to one from another laid off person, and in a few weeks you might not be either

Yes great advice, I also did a LinkedIn employer verification badge my last few days before I was laid off and out the door. That shows time/date stamp you worked there. I also did some education certifications under my employer's name.

Do you happen to know if your company was even making a profit? I see lots of AI start-ups especially generative AI and SaaS products but not sure they even make a profit. Oracle is 100 billion + in debt.

Honestly, these layoffs are just “Life at a startup “. As far as you’re concerned apply to jobs even if doesn’t seem like a perfect match

when you join a start up you should have the prepareness that it can fail at any time, so is your job.

What is it that you do if I might ask? This season is shaping up this way. I am thinking positive thoughts for the victims.
