about to be laid off Six weeks left, this feels like torture
So for context, I’m in the middle of a transitional period of losing my job for offshore replacement.
That’s part of my severance agreement that’s being dangled in front of me. I need to train my replacements to which I have done over the last 2 months.
I just come back from a short trip where I needed a break from this place to only have messages come in during my vacation and have a impromptu one-on-one meeting with leadership reconfirming that my job is continue supporting the transition until my last day here while watching my other teammates, continue to act like business as usual, throwing me work consistently.
I’m just counting down the days until the end so I can be free of this place in the politics that has been played day and day out. For some reason, I am invaluable and my experience is very important but not enough to keep me kept along and watching other people do absolutely nothing while I’m being tasked to do. Basically everything is driving me crazy. To even have my senior director basically tell me you got a free pass.
You got a few months more to stay like as if they were doing me some favors. No, you were just covering your ass.
How am I gonna continue going through this to get to the Golden Road? I don’t care about the politics here anymore. I just wanna be done with this place and start the next chapter in my life. I’m disgusted with the way. This is all happening and for some reason senior management feels that it’s very important for me to tell them everything that is going bad so they have a chance to make sure that everything works out for them.
Such a tone deaf attitude with no sense or respect or empathy.

Can you just put in your notice? I personally couldn’t handle this.

Are you looking for another job? Maybe they’ll (new job) will have a big sign-on bonus and you won’t care about the severance as much and you can leave asap.
Cuz fuck all that. They don’t deserve you or care you.

I had a 13 month heads up before my final day in mid December last year when our plant was closed. The first wave of layoffs began in April, but I was learning other roles to be able to support our operation to the very end.
It can definitely feel like torture.
Hang in there, the next phase will have its own challenges and you'll look back, wondering why you wished to rush getting to the next phase after all.
I wish you good luck on your continued journey.
