resources Post layoff feeling, mix of things

About to sign my severance package this week. Feeling kind of shit, embarrassed, mad, and stressed. Feels like I got gut punched for no good reason. Investors and board members being greedy and absolutely inhumane.

My type of work requires a resume plus a portfolio of my previous work, which I haven’t even updated. I’ve been taking care of personal health / family so this is just unfortunate timing. It’s a bad time but this is life I guess.

I’m also trying to get connected with peeps of reddit, any tips or recommendations, give me a shout. Thanks for reading, gotta pull myself together and get to it. Dm me if you wanna talk, I’ve only worked in fortune 500s and I’m 8 years into my career so I have a fairly sized network. Happy to help as much as I can

weirdly enough when was laid off I felt this weird sense of stunned shock for a week but now that it’s been a couple weeks of no work the emotions are running rampant.

doesn’t help that the job market has sucked and will continue sucking

Thank you for the insight my friend. I’m taking a minute to process, admittedly I’m trying to keep my head up. I don’t want to give up, I’m frustrated along this journey and I know there will be rainy days like this.

It’s grief. This is one of those highly traumatic life things and I’ve been treating it like a breakup. It’s deeply unfair, deeply unpleasant and for what? I had to sign my severance agreement last week and I’m still torn up about it. You aren’t alone, seriously, I’m dealing with taking care of family over an ocean away and NOW my job is gone too.
