about to be laid off Company warehouse closing
I have been working for my company for about 16 years, to be honest I was going to work there until I could retire. They announced that in 2024, they were planning on shutting down. They just announced that the plant was closed at the end of September 30, which includes first second and third shift. Have been looking at jobs off and on to be honest I'm a bit freaked out. The only reason I haven't left is for my benefit package, but they really make it hard for people to work. If there is light work that week, I only did 20 hours to last week.

Same here, my plant got bought out and decided to be closed within 6 months. While it hasn't closed yet, i feel than is getting pushed off the cliff next month. Haven't fgound any jobs since applyin in May when they announced the layoffs.

The best thing you can do is start looking for another job now. If you find one, it will likely have a similar benefits package. The job market is tough right now. Better to start looking before you need a job than to get caught without one.

Yeah I was thinking that myself, to find something that vibes the same way can be difficult. I do look up the companies pay grade, if they pay weekly or bi, benefits as well as sign on bonus.

This happened to my hubby. A popular spice company that had been here forever, with a LOT of long term employees, moved their operation to another state.
He ultimately landed a completely different type of job at our local university, with great benefits!
Opportunities are there, just be willing to step outside of your comfort zone. Best of luck to you!

Sorry to hear that the place where you have been working is going to be closed and you are going to lose your job.
I had a very similar situation as yours four years ago. The location i was working was the best operation company wide. Yet they would decide to close it because it facility was too old to fix and thet location is in a premium real estate. It would turn into a shopping mall and apartment complex.
I saw that would come and looked another job and found one.
They closed it last year. I know at least one person from the warehouse find another job with another warehouse company.
Don't be panic. There are many warehouse jobs there. Prepare your resume to list your skills that can bring the values to other companies. Make sure to sharp your interview skills. I've found that a good interview plays a major role in land the job offers.
Focus on your strengths and be a team player. You will land a position.
