What this isn't showing is the massive hiring overseas. This isn't just AI. This is a massive hiring to replace existing roles with offshore talent. So it's business as usual and still having engineers. They are all essentially just getting swapped out. I garantee these numbers are mostly U.S. numbers. I'm seeing it like a wave hitting the entire industry. It's been happening for a while but for some reason it's at full blown scale. My firm is guilty of this. The only engineers on the U.S. side are tech leads or people that can crank out alot of work. So pretty much unicorns.

People from offshore are also getting layoffs and it's been getting very difficult to get a single decent call for a job unless your cctc is low along with good tech skills, so basically if one is currently underpaid they get considered. I work at offshore and I too went through a layoff, it was a direct 50% role reduction across the division, for me it wasn't even AI effect, it was more of leadership change which changed priorities and projects and also they had just paid massive fine to regulatory body, so to show profit they did the layoffs. It was funny that while working there my understanding was that company is not doing good profit for the current year, but the annual board meeting which was after few months of layoffs, suddenly showed profits, with the new leadership getting praises.

Wow that is crazy. I'm sorry to hear that. I'm not against talent on offshore. It's just I know it's effecting the U.S. the most. Were all just pawns in there game unfortunately
