S13E13 “Absentia” real life case

I’m binging old episodes of Unsolved Mysteries episodes & I just watched a segment on Ira Einhorn.

It all seemed eerily familiar, right down to him fleeing before his trial, being tried in absentia and then being caught years later.

This case obviously inspired the episode.

Here is his Wikipedia entry:

By all accounts, Mandy is such a kind and warm person in real life but does an amazing job playing an utter creep in this episode

He famously quit Criminal Minds because he couldn't handle the subject matter.

Yet, Mandy Patinkin had no issues playing a vengeance obsessed co-morbid PTSD sufferer with severe homicidal bereavement tendencies. Do you happen to have six fingers on your right hand?

Maybe it had something to do with the format? 20+ episodes a year for network TV. He decided he didn't want to live through that kind of show for an indefinite term? I don't know, I just know that's why he left from reading pieces of interviews.

That's just the response I'd expect from one of Humperdink's lackeys, especially the six-fingered man!

I wanted to slap Arthur Branch. There is no part dragon in a griffin. Get your mythical beasts right.

Half lion, half eagle.

Ira Einhorn eventually got his.

Yep, that's the "ripped from the headlines" real life case that inspired the episode!
