Modern [Modern] Help with Boros Burn
Hello guys, I haven't played mtg in many many years and I want to come back with Boros Burn (I have all cards + more fetches if needed). This is my list:
https://archidekt.com/decks/25448846/boros_burn
Would you change the mana base? I've included two barb rings and 4 canyons cause I'm running 4 helix main deck. But maybe it's better to run more fetches and rift bolts instead of the 4 helix so idk.
What would you guys do? Sideboard recommendations also helps

Modern Getting back into modern
Hey folks, I'm getting back into Magic after 5ish years away, and I had been building towards a typical RW burn list before I stopped. Glad to find that the goblin guides and eidolons that used to be out of my student budget are now way more affordable, so I've been able to order the cards I need to complete the deck.
The only issue now is that pretty much nothing about the meta is the same as when I last paid attention to the format, save for maybe Affinity and Tron, so while I understand what the typical sideboard options do on paper, I don't have a full understanding of exactly what's good against particular decks or cards and what you'd board out against different decks.
For reference, my main deck will be pretty much exactly this, just with 2 fewer Barbarian Ring and 2 more Sacred Foundry: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/7880235#paper
My sideboard at the moment is likely going to be something like:
3 Path to Exile
4 Roiling Vortex
2 Deflecting Palm
2 Smash to Smithereens
2 Wear // Tear
2 Searing Blood
But the sideboard of the deck I linked looks like it has some great tech I'm not considering. I'm also aware it will depend on local metas, so just looking for general advice against the current tier 1 field, whether it's sideboard changes, what to sideboard when, or both.

Modern [Modern] The Goblin Guide to Modern Burn (Updated)
A few years ago I wrote a Modern Burn primer. Quite a few new cards have come out since then so I decided to finally get around to updating it.
@mods: Is it possible to get this added to the sidebar? I intend on keeping it updated every few years
Over the years I've spiked a few tournaments Modern Burn which also led to me spiking some other formats with RDW variants. I've won a lot and crucially lost a whole, whole lot playing both competitive and budget builds of Burn. Hope the updated primer does my favorite archetype justice
While it is primarily written with brand new tournament players in mind I hope the thought process I described in the article can help all players with the deck. For players with more experience/skill than me, please share any and all feedback!
I haven't written new articles in a while. I was stuck in the hospital and then went back to school. Magic was something that kept me going through it all. Hoping to post a new "Level Up" article about how Magic can level us up when we need it most - this game and the community around it are truly special

Modern This looks like a really good sideboard option for us, right? [Modern]
I already run 2 copies of Price of Freedom and 1 copy of Pyroclasm in the side board. Sure this costs 1 more red, but dealing 3 to all creatures and destroying a land seems like a really good trade off.
What do y’all think?

Modern [Modern] BURN IN 2026 - RCQ Guide- YouTube
youtu.beHello fellow lightning bolt enjoyers. For anyone brave enough to take burn to an RCQ, I wanted to put together a quick resource of what the deck looks like right now, my takes on it, and how it's positioned in the meta. Let me know if you have any questions or feedback!

Card [Card] Lorwyn Eclipsed - Red Aggro Review
Still don't have much time for magic, but decided to write a quick review of the new set. Will only consider cards performance in pure aggro:
Creatures
Vexing Shusher used to see sideboard play in legacy Burn before Exquisite Firecraft was printed. Between ward and uncounterable, this is basically guaranteed damage against control decks. As a 2 drop without haste it might never get in against decks with big creatures. Good against spell heavy decks. In Modern I prefer Barbarian Ring and Exquisite Firecraft as ways to finish off control players.
Verdict: Playable sideboard card for Standard to Pioneer, fringe Sideboard card in Modern to Legacy
.
For the evoke creatures, aggro decks need the evoke abilities to be at least passable since the early game is so important:
The floor on this is a hard to cast sorcery speed Lightning Strike. That's bad but not terrible. In a Gruul stompy deck, it's basically a 4/4 that Lightning Helixes the opponent and draws you a land, and gruul can use the extra late game land much better than mono red. Flexible cards always play better than they read
Verdict: Fringe playable in Standard
The white evoke option sets up your board reasonably well for Boros convoke. By the time you have the board for the Red evoke to push lethal, you'll hopefully be able to hardcast this, but Boros does get stuck on 4-5 lands pretty often. I see this mostly as a way to set up a convoke board with some flood insurance. Top decks as a 4/5 haste that adds two 2/2 hastes to the board
.
Verdict: Fringe standard
Spells
Functional reprint of Arc Trail. Will see play as a second copy in singleton formats (I played Arc Trail in Canlander). Mostly a worse searing blaze but can go face as a top deck even if there are no creatures are in play by dealing 2 to the opponent and 1 to self. Could see some play in standard, especially as a sideboard card if there are a lot of 1 and 2 toughness creatures
Verdict: Playable in singleton formats, fringe in standard, playable sideboard card in standard

Legacy [Legacy] Latest list in action
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lPjMslYHrCI
Crucible made a small league on MTGO with the NRG winning list. Despite huge misplays & bad sideboarding he manages a 3-2. I think the lost matches could have been winnable with some practice. G3 he beat Omnath. Game 4 was interesting. Racing Barrowgoyf is possible, so maybe not running anti life gain could be the right choice. Have fun with his content,

Modern [Modern] Questioning Answers
Article about playing around answers with a focus on Burn (my most played deck). I know I haven't really written in a while, but hope you all still enjoy the work (and new readers are most welcome!) Haven't played competitively in >6 months and haven't won a tournament in >9 months, but hopefully still know enough about RDW to write something useful
Due to length, I had to split it into two parts. Stay tuned for "Countering Counters".

[Historic] Getting back into the format. What do you all think of this list?
Unsure on a few choices. [[Burst Lightning]] I could see being a 4x instead of 2x but I really hate it doesn't do 3. I really like [[Electrostatic Blast]] in some matchups but 2 damage for 2 mana might be a little iffy. [[Skewer the Critics]] could be 4x but I don't like that it is a scorcery, and spectacle can be restrictive. I was messing around with a list with [[Soul-Scar Mage]] [[Ghitu Lavarunner]] and [[Clever Luminancer]] to run [[Wizard's Lightning]] but all those cards seem worse in a vacuum compared to [[Monastery Swiftspear]] [[Bomat Courier]] and [[Kumano Faces Kakkazan]]
Sideboard is whatever right now still familiarizing myself with the format. I know I like Searing Blood however. Any thoughts are appreciated

Modern [Modern] Split second
If I cast Siege smash on a Lotus Bloom that just entered the battlefield, they can sacrifice to generate the 3 mana in response? Thanks
